A RESOLUTION

1 Recognizing and commending Glenda Baskin Glover for her outstanding accomplishments; 2 and for other purposes.

3 WHEREAS, Glenda Baskin Glover, a Memphis, Tennessee, native, has long been recognized 4 for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the 5 welfare of all; and

6 WHEREAS, she earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Tennessee State 7 University in 1974, an MBA from in 1976, a J.D from Georgetown 8 University Law Center in 1994, and a Ph.D. in business economics and policy from George 9 Washington University in 1990; and

10 WHEREAS, she began her full-time academic career as chairperson of the accounting 11 department at and in 1994 she served as the Dean of the School of 12 Business for , developing retention strategies, ensuring compliance 13 with accreditation standards, and fundraising for the university; and

14 WHEREAS, on January 1, 2013, she joined Tennessee State University as its eighth 15 president; and

16 WHEREAS, Glenda Glover has served on the board of directors of several private and public 17 companies, including First Guaranty Bancshares, Student Loan Corp., The Lenox Group, 18 Regions Bank of Mississippi, Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, and Economic Analysis; 19 and

20 WHEREAS, she has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Metro Jackson 21 Chamber of Commerce, chairperson of the City of Jackson Planning Board, and member of 22 the Harvard Business School Management Alliance; she was also a recipient of the Drum

23 Major for Justice award, Distinguished Woman of the Year award, Dean of the Year award, 24 and the Most Outstanding Philanthropist award; and

25 WHEREAS, along with her academic and administrative accomplishments, she has 26 publications in several highly regarded journals and has made numerous presentations at 27 professional meetings and conferences; and she has also served as an editorial advisor for one 28 of the most prestigious journals in the accounting profession; and

29 WHEREAS, she and her husband, Charles, have two beloved children, Candace and Charles; 30 and

31 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this 32 remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.

33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that 34 the members of this body commend Glenda Baskin Glover for her efficient, effective, 35 unselfish, and dedicated public service.

36 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized 37 and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Glenda Baskin Glover.
