Question on Community Hall

The Islands District Office would conduct an estimate of additional resources required for additional opening hours of Tung Chung Community Hall and Community Hall. The Committee would then decide at the next meeting whether the pilot scheme would be carried out.

Report on the management of Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s recreational and sports facilities in Islands District between April and May 2013

3. Members noted the contents of the paper and gave suggestions on how to improve the utilization rate of the tennis court(s) of Park.

Report on the services of the public libraries in Islands District by Leisure and Cultural Services Department between April and May 2013

4. Members noted the contents of the paper and enquired about the quantity of book stock of the small libraries of Islands District. Questions were also asked about the parking of the Pui O Mobile Library Van.

Third Batch of District Minor Works Projects proposed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department for 2013/14

5. The Committee approved the funding of $671,300 for the six projects below:  Replacement of the Air Circuit Breaker at Sports Centre;  Improvement Works for Tung Chung Swimming Pool;  Improvement to Lifesaving Equipment of Islands District Beaches;  Replacement of Roof Exhaust Fan for Lift of Cheung Chau Sports Centre;  Improvement to Manhole at Artificial Turf Pitch of Man Tung Road Park; and  Provision of Storage to and Lo So Shing Beach.

Progress Report on Approved DC Funded ‘District Minor Works Projects’ from 2008/09 to 2013/14

6. Members noted the contents of the paper and enquired about the progress of various projects. The Committee noted that the cost required for the installation of elevator at Peng Chau Clinic was initially estimated at $11,300,000. The Committee approved a funding of $800,000 for conducting a feasibility study.
