The challenges presented by the pandemic have further accelerated what we already knew to be true: the world our students enter upon graduation requires a different level of preparation than what we have traditionally provided to them. I am reminded of the parent who once stopped me at a store to share his frustrations about his daughter’s inability to find a job after successfully graduating from one of our CTE programs.

Office of the 80 CENTRE STREET, SIXTH Special Narcotics Prosecutor FLOOR for the City of New York NEW YORK, NY 10013 212-815-0400, GEN. 212-815-0440, FAX Bridget G. Brennan, Special Narcotics Prosecutor Press Release Friday, January 27, 2006 Magda Gandasegui, Director of Public Information (212) 815-0525 OPERATION PANAMA EXPRESS New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor BRIDGET G. BRENNAN, New York Police Commissioner RAYMOND W. KELLY, New York Dea Special Agent-In-Charge JOHN P. GILBRIDE announced today the arrest of 20 individuals involved in a drug enterprise that used dozens of swallowers to transport heroin from Panama to the United States. Indictments unsealed today charged Carlos Antonio Zaldivar Robinson, Lee Omar Dean Jerome, Luis Alberto Fruto Lay and Mark Anthony Lowe, four leaders in Panama who oversaw the recruitment of both American and Panamanian swallowers. Bronx-based Silverio Guzman, the head of the New York cell, coordinated the distribution of heroin. Also indicted were a Panamanian and an American citizen who smuggled ingested heroin, three other members of the transportation organization, a Bronx-based heroin supplier, and three local drug traffickers who resold the drugs throughout New York City. The international investigation, dubbed “Operation Panama Express,” identified Silverio Guzman as the main target in New York. Guzman actively recruited swallowers, arranged for the trips under the guidance of the Panamanian bosses, made arrangements to retrieve the heroin from the swallowers and supplied heroin to local dealers. For nine months, surveillance and wiretap operations traced the comings and goings of swallowers, including the two indicted today, as they traveled routinely from Latin America to the United States transporting pellets full of heroin.

BBC Update BBC News: Seven Baptisms! Dr. Thomas M. Strouse, Pastor The Lord blessed Bible Baptist Church by setting in the assembly BBC Update seven believers (cf. I Cor. 12:18), six of whom are from the area. Sev- eral of these folks have been saved recently from the church outreach. We are thankful that the Lord added to Bible Baptist Church (cf. Acts 2:47) including Miss Hannah Akers, Mrs. Yolanda Mendoza, Mr. Jean- not Rossignol, and Mr. and Mrs. Pedro Tarrats. On Sunday, November 7, 2010, we travelled as a caravan to Pastor Main’s church in Stafford Springs for the afternoon service. His church, Galilean Baptist Church, graciously allowed us to use the baptistery to immerse these believ- ers who professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (cf. Acts 8:37). To para- Mrs. Yolanda Mendoza phrase Dr. Harold David- 1 son, “a price tag cannot be put on the joy of seeing people come to 1 Num. 21 Vol. Christ and obey Him in baptism and church membership.” As Bible Baptist Church is approaching her first year anniversary (Dec. 4), it is such a blessing to see the Lord confirm the decision to leave an area church and plant Bible Baptist Church and house Bible Baptist Theo- logical Seminary. The Lord Jesus Christ has confirmed Bible Baptist Church as one of His candlesticks in multiple ways, including through New Testament authority, through area pastors’ recognition, through abundant financial blessings, through Satanic opposition, and through a total of eleven being added to membership via baptism. Please pray that Bible Baptist Church will continue to please God in doctrine and practice, as Paul stated, saying, “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should Mr.

  • Askaneli Wines
ASKANELI't; BROTHERS 1880 From the very beginning, we decided to not spare money or efforts on using the most current technologies and inviting the best industry professionals with international work ex- perience. It is extremely important for me to be involved in the creation of the modern history of Georgian winemaking. Our country prides with its huge range of endemic grapes, many of which have been lost or simply forgotten. Revival of ancient varieties has become one of the important components for our development and we are continuously working a lot in this direction. We cherish traditions, but don’t fear experimenting, searching for new tastes and imple- menting new technologies. Thanks to this approach, we have created new wines from smaller vineyards that have unique terroir. Contributing to the global winemaking, yet step by step we create our signature style. We want our wines to be exceptional and recognizable, to have individuality and certainly the Georgian spirit. Constant development and quality growth has remained the cornerstone over the 20 years Gocha Chkhaidze of existence for Askaneli Brothers company. President of Askaneli Brothers Askaneli Brothers started in the village Askana in the region of Guria west Georgia near the Black Sea. It is interestingly to note, that even the name of the village is related to the activities of Askaneli since the son of Aeneas descendant of Dionysus was called Ascanius. Legend would have been just a good story if not for the great grandfather of the Askaneli’s, Anthimoz Chkhaidze. There in the winery vault built by him lays a pitcher dated 1880.

  • LM Findlay in the French Revolution: a History
    L. M. Findlay "Maternity must forth": The Poetics and Politics of Gender in Carlyle's French Revolution In The French Revolution: A History ( 1837), Thomas Carlyle made a remarkable contribution to the history of discourse and to the legiti mation and dissemination of the idea of history qua discourse.' This work, born from the ashes of his own earlier manuscript, an irrecover able Ur-text leading us back to its equally irrecoverable 'origins' in French society at the end of the eighteenth century, represents a radical departure from the traditions of historical narrative.2 The enigmas of continuity I discontinuity conveyed so powerfully by the events of the Revolution and its aftermath are explored by Carlyle in ways that re-constitute political convulsion as the rending and repair of language as cultural fabric, or. to use terms more post-structuralist than Carlyl ean, as the process of rupture/suture in the rhetoric of temporality.3 The French Revolution, at once parodic and poetic, provisional and peremptory, announces itself as intertextual, epigraphic play, before paying tribute to the dialogic imagination in a series of dramatic and reflective periods which resonate throughout the poetry and prose of the Victorian period. In writing what Francis Jeffrey considered "undoubtedly the most poetical history the world has ever seen- and the most moral also,"4 Carlyle created an incurably reflexive idiom of astonishing modernity. And an important feature of this modernity indeed, a feature that provides a salutary reminder of the inevitably relative, historically mediated modernity of the discourse of periods earlier than our own - is the employment of countless versions of human gender to characterize and to contain the phenomenon of revolution.
