The Great Bag Bash wasRecap a success! It was the 5th annual Bag Bash with 153 people in attendance. IIDA WI had their largest turn-out for the famed annual event. Just over $7,000 was raised for the Susan Wohlitz Memorial Fund. The Susan Wohlitz Memorial Fund, part of the IIDA Foundation, is a scholarship fund used for the advancement of students pursuing interior design degrees in the State of Wisconsin.

This year was the last year live auction participants had an opportunity to win a Knoll Womb Chair. This year the Womb Chair went to Erin Jende, InterfaceFlor, first time attendee of the Great Bag Bash. A good time and good fun was had by all. We decorated bags, played a little “SUSAN” bingo, and auctioned off both donations and the fabulous bag designed off our “bag bashers”.

We hope you’ve been able to join us over this year! Thank you to all our committee members, volunteers, attendees, and donors. IIDA WI is very proud of this event and we hope it continues to grow over the years to come. We also hope you keep coming. We would like to thank Becky Brown, IIDA for generously donating the party at Madison's for the event. 13 2011 Year in Review - Madison City Center Events Epic Tour Recap IIDA Madison City Center had a tour of Epic's Galactic Headquarters on May 24. We had a great turn out and were broken into two groups to tour the facility. From the start you knew that this was no ordinary company, and recognize that the design professionals involved in Epic's projects were allowed more creative license than usually seen in a corporate environment. Although the tours lasted a couple of hours much more time would be needed to do the facility justice.

Some of the things that make Epic's buildings unique are fireplaces and clocks located in every conference room. The buildings all have themes that are carried out to an amazing level of detail. A unique feature of their design concept is that every employee has a private office. The campus is so large that there are visitor offices, so employees can stay in a building if they have several meetings scheduled during a day, rather than take the time to return to their own office building. There are elaborately decorated tunnels connecting the buildings, so weather will not affect your travel from one building to another. The majority of the parking is underground, to keep the campus' footprint smaller. The land owned by Epic, but not in use for their facilities, is farmed by a local farmer. There is even a full size tree house for conferences or just a break from the busy office environment. IIDA members even enjoyed the slide from one floor to another in one of the newer buildings with a Heaven and Hell theme.

The Epic staff also highlighted their commitment to green building as demonstrated by their solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and planned windmill. They are always in a construction phase, and always planning the next building. They mentioned that 40% of people in North America have their health records on Epic Systems software, and judging by their growth, that number will increase. Everyone who went on the tour will agree that Epic's facility is indescribable, so we encourage you to take advantage of the next event IIDA schedules at Epic. Thank you Epic for the wonderful tour! 14 2011 Year in Review - Madison City Center Events House of the Future Recap
