Upcoming Events 2011 Year in Review reflections President’s Message The New Year is upon us and though our organization encounters a change in leadership and deep evaluation of our chapter goals in July, a new year always brings the opportunity to reflect upon those goals, think about our accomplishments and face our new initiatives with a fresh perspective. A new year brings hope for growth and a more January 2012 prosperous future for all. Rebecca Brown, IIDA This year our Board of Directors identified four key categories Upcoming Events for our strategic goals that will help this chapter to grow and SWMF Great Bag Bash 2012 be prosperous. They focus on the following: Knowledge, Community, Value Interior Perspectives 2012 and Infrastructure. You will see initiatives rolled into our Premiere Events Celebrate In Design 2012 and City Center Programs focusing on these categories. Career Day 2012 Knowledge: Enhance the programming of IIDA WI to be the interior design professional development resource in the state by providing growth 2011 Year In Review opportunities for our members. Premier Events SWMF Great Bag Bash 2011 Value: Assist members with the process of transition from one level of Interior Perspectives 2011 membership to the next through awareness, scholarship for continuing Celebrate In Design 2011 On Par Golf Outing 2011 education and opportunity to earn a membership as well as to appropriately Strut 2011 recognize our Annual Partners for their support. Statewide Events Community: Grow our membership base to enable each City Center to create Flourish LEED Event 2011 a strong camaraderie and network base as well as to increase our online City Centers 2011 community through social media avenues. Madison City Center • Winter Holiday Party Infrastructure: Focus on providing convenient programming to underserved • Madison Children’s Museum markets and adapting our Board structure to accommodate this change. Also, Tour launch a new internet platform that will provide engaging and convenient • Epic Tour • House of the Future Tour access to our events and ease of registration with industry information readily Milwaukee City Center available online. • Integra Tour & Boat Cruise Fox Valley City Center Our chapter of IIDA remains strong with great thanks due to the number • Kroc Center Tour of volunteers that put their heart, skill and time in making all of our events • Wicked/ PAC Tour possible as well as our Annual Partners that provide the funds to execute our Students programs. I would like to extend a personal thank you to the volunteers and Career Day 2011 Annual Partners as well as the Board of Directors that dedicate countless hours Lighting the Community to defining and implementing our chapter goals and initiatives. Honoring outstanding design in the the 2012 Interior following categories; Residential, Hospitality/ Retail Perspectives held and Corporate. The schedule for the evening events will be as follows: 5:30 – 7:00 Cocktail Reception with Silent & Live Auction 7:00 Design Awards Presentation 4 2011 Year in Review - Premier Event 2011 IIDA WI Fifth Annual SWMF Great Bag Bash The Great Bag Bash wasRecap a success! It was the 5th annual Bag Bash with 153 people in attendance. IIDA WI had their largest turn-out for the famed annual event. Just over $7,000 was raised for the Susan Wohlitz Memorial Fund. The Susan Wohlitz Memorial Fund, part of the IIDA Foundation, is a scholarship fund used for the advancement of students pursuing interior design degrees in the State of Wisconsin. This year was the last year live auction participants had an opportunity to win a Knoll Womb Chair. This year the Womb Chair went to Erin Jende, InterfaceFlor, first time attendee of the Great Bag Bash. A good time and good fun was had by all. We decorated bags, played a little “SUSAN” bingo, and auctioned off both donations and the fabulous bag designed off our “bag bashers”. We hope you’ve been able to join us over this year! Thank you to all our committee members, volunteers, attendees, and donors. IIDA WI is very proud of this event and we hope it continues to grow over the years to come. We also hope you keep coming. Thanks again! 5 2011 Year in Review - Premier Event 2011 Interior Perspectives 2011 IIDA WI Celebrate In Design Recap Recap On Thursday, May 5th, IIDA-WI held the 14th What a better way to end a hard day's work of annual Interior Perspectives continuing education learning and rekindling our design education and event in conjunction with the AIA- WI Convention skills, but then to have a celebration! Immediately and Building Product Expo at the Monona Terrace following Interior Perspectives on Thursday, May in Madison, WI. Interior Perspectives is a premier 5th, IIDA-WI hosted the interior design awards event offering CEU opportunities to Interior Design event, Celebrate In Design at the Best Western professionals. Inn on the Park, Madison, WI. This year brought a change in schedule The room was beautifully decorated with fresh consolidating the IIDA sponsored speakers to a floral arrangements and brightly colored hand- one day event.

Part I is a short history of the Northside of Madison from the 1840s to the present as revealed by street naming practices. Part II presents more information about Northside street names. Part III explains how the Army changed the designations of streets at Truax Field from letters and numbers to “avenues of honor.” Part IV is a sidebar with sketches of several carpenters, contractors, and developers who helped build the Northside from the 1920s through the 1970s. Part V discusses and lists the names of Eastside streets between the Yahara River and Starkweather Creek. Part VI uses the same format as Part V to discuss the names of Westside streets from Wingra Park to Nakoma. Part VII is devoted to Westside areas north of the Beltline to about 1970. Part VIII returns to the Eastside with facts about streets from Starkweather Creek and Monona Drive to Interstate 90.
