2017 Event Information 2017 Event Information Event Partners www.BaseballCoachesClinic.com www.BaseballCoachesClinic.com January 2017 Dear Coach, We are excited to welcome you as we celebrate our 14th year of the Mohegan Sun World Baseball Coaches’ Convention. Beginning with our first clinic in 2004, our mission has been to provide you with the very best in coaching education. We have spent considerable time securing the best clinicians and designing a curriculum that addresses all levels of play and a range of coaching areas. Each year, we seek to improve your clinic experience. Building on last year's success, we are offering you post- event access to video of even more clinic sessions (close to 30 sessions!), so that you can refresh your memory or watch sessions you may have missed. Check the clinic website for more information on how to purchase these videos - we are confident you'll find them highly valuable. Also, in an effort to provide you with information in the most convenient way possible, we will again offer an event app this year (an improved 2017 version), which will provide you with the clinic schedule, presenter biographies, a list of exhibitors, a digital version of the event handout and much more. Search Baseball Coaches Convention in the app stores. Finally, in an effort to continually improve the coach experience, we are offering a Baseball Meet & Greet on Friday evening from 5:30 - 7PM, where you'll be able to meet, interact with, and ask questions of many of our presenters (we have Q & A sessions on hitting, pitching and general coaching topics planned - see the event schedule for details), spend more quality time with our sponsors and exhibitors, and enjoy a moment with your coaching colleagues. We believe our convention is more than just three days of coaching instruction; it is a chance to bounce ideas off your fellow coaches and learn from each other. Our convention staff, exhibitors and guest speakers will be available to you throughout the clinic. Please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself, ask a question or provide your own perspective on the game. We thank all of our clinic presenters, who have found the time to share their knowledge of and passion for America's game. A special thanks also goes to Mohegan Sun - our title sponsor - who has welcomed us and allowed us to use their outstanding facilities. Lastly, we recognize our sponsors, whose support helps make this clinic possible. We encourage you to visit our exhibitors and patronize them throughout the year. Enjoy the clinic and please take the time during and after this weekend to let us know your thoughts on improving next year’s Mohegan Sun World Baseball Coaches’ Convention. We wish you all the best with your upcoming season and look forward to seeing you in January 2018! Yours in baseball and coaching, P.S. • December 18, 2014 Espnchicago.Com Cubs Trade
December 18, 2014 ESPNChicago.com Cubs trade Justin Ruggiano to Seattle By Jesse Rogers CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs traded outfielder Justin Ruggiano to the Seattle Mariners for minor league pitcher Matt Brazis, the team announced Wednesday. Brazis, 25, is 8-6 with a 2.89 ERA in 100 minor league relief appearances since being drafted in the 28th round by Seattle in 2012. He finished last season at Double-A and struck out 84 while walking only 18 in 72 innings pitched last year. In the short term the move opens a 40-man roster spot for pitcher Jason Motte, who agreed to terms with the Cubs this week, though they haven’t made the signing official yet. In the longer term the Cubs now have a need for a right-handed hitter who could share time in left field with Chris Coghlan. A trade for an impact player like Justin Upton of the Atlanta Braves is unlikely, which leaves the Cubs filling the need with a role player. Jonny Gomes has drawn interest and the Ruggiano move could pave the way for his signing. The Cubs want leadership in the clubhouse and Gomes has a history with new manager Joe Maddon, having played for him after Maddon took over the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006. Gomes won a World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2013. The Cubs still have righties Junior Lake and Matt Szczur on their 40-man roster, but the front office has expressed a need for veteran leadership which would come from outside the organization at this point.

  • Minor League Baseball and Its Clubs Embodied the Mission of Milb
2019 MiLBTM COMMUNITY REPORT LETTER FROM PAT O’CONNER LETTER FROM PAT Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you for your efforts in making 2019 another successful philanthropic year for Minor League Baseball, our 160 teams and MiLB Charities. As we prepare for the 2020 season, we have many accomplishments from last season to celebrate. None of our efforts would be possible without the great work of our teams, continued dedication from staff at the national office and the support of our millions of fans nationwide. For a fifth straight year, all 160 clubs reported their charitable giving and contributions, allowing us to accurately assess our collective efforts. It gives me great pleasure to say that in 2019, MiLB Charities donated nearly $50 million in cash and gifts in kind from our teams, leagues and partners — once again setting a new record-high total. In addition, MiLB and its teams nearly doubled our volunteer efforts from 2018, giving more than 26,000 hours in service of our communities. This report highlights MiLB Charities’ many programs and initiatives, including the MiLB CommUNITY Initiative presented by Allegiant Air, the Stars & Stripes Caps Program with New Era Cap Company, the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation Father’s Day Initiative, Ed Randall’s Fans For the Cure, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Domestic Violence Awareness Initiative, and the “Cover Your Bases” Sun Safety Initiative with the American Cancer Society. These are just a few of the ways our teams and partners are working together to make positive and lasting impacts in our MiLB communities.

You are the Body of Christ Preacher: Rev. Lauren Lorincz Date: January 24, 2016 13:29 “You are the Body of Christ” Pilgrim Church UCC, January 24, 2016, (1 Corinthians 12:12-31a) Third Sunday after Epiphany Let’s go back to Game 6 of the 1986 World Series at Shea Stadium in Queens. The Mets are trailing the Red Sox 5-4 and are one out from finishing an amazing season with a disappointing loss. Mookie Wilson’s at the plate and Red Sox pitcher Bob Stanley throws a wild pitch to bring Kevin Mitchell home. All of a sudden, the Mets and the Sox are tied in the bottom of the 10th inning—and then comes the infamous moment. Wilson has a full count and hits a grounder up the first-base line. Bill Buckner, the veteran first baseman, hobbles to field this ground ball and reaches down too late. The ball bounces between his legs and rolls right behind him. Ray Knight rounds third base for the Mets and heads home—leaping with joy. The Mets tie the series at three games apiece and go on to win the 1986 World Series.
