Film, Fashion and Forums with the JUNOS Date: March 12-April 29, 2013 Time: Open during regular library hours. Location: Regina Public Library and Dunlop Art Gallery, 2311-12th Ave, Regina, SK

What: In partnership with the Regina Public Library and Dunlop Art Gallery, CARAS will present JUNO-themed programming in March and April. JUNO-nominated films will be shown at the library every Wednesday in April, starting at 7pm with free admission [: Heart of Gold (April 3), This Movie is Broken (April 10), RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage (April 17), : I'm Your Man (April 24)]. JUNO-themed displays will be presented in the lobby featuring JUNO memorabilia from the National Music Centre and shoes from the JUNO Sole exhibit that ran for a year at the Bata Shoe Museum in 2011. The library will host a day of fun on the Saturday, April 20th — from 10 a.m. until noon with live performances by JUNO-nominated artists from the Children’s Album of the Year category including: Emilie Mover, Helen Austin, Jennifer Gasoi and Marlowe & the MixX!!

The Power of Music: Sustainability & the JUNOS Date: March 26-July 31, 2013 Time: Open during regular museum hours. Location: Royal Saskatchewan Museum, 2445 Albert Street Regina, SK

What: The Power of Music: Sustainability & the JUNOS will highlight connections between musical artists and sustainability. The exhibit will feature four interactive listening and learning stations, each dedicated to a different sustainability theme and featuring one Canadian artist (Bruce Cockburn, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Neil Young, and Sarah Harmer) and his or her cause. Each station will consist of text, images and an iPad that visitors can use to learn more about the artist and their efforts. They will also be able to listen to a song by the artist and six other songs that touch on the same theme.

Each station will also include additional causes supported by over 20 -nominated artists that relate to the station’s sustainability theme. Visitors will have the ability to suggest other songs that they feel carry a similar message.

As a lasting legacy, the exhibit will become the RSM’s fourth travelling exhibit later this spring. People around the province of Saskatchewan will be able to continue the musical interaction.

What: The Lula Lounge plays host to the latest instalment of JUNO Concert Series with a Roots, Blues and World Music edition. Presented by the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and Produced by Derek Andrews and Richard Flohil, the JUNO Concert Series is a celebration of Canadian music whereby artists come together in collaboration to perform songs from the Canadian songbook.

The Roots, Blues and World Music lineup shines a spotlight on Canada’s wide-ranging musical talent, including: JUNO Award winners Good Lovelies; violinist Jaron Freeman-Fox; world music group and 2013 JUNO Award nominees Jaffa Road; the Lemon Bucket Orkestra, a self-described “Balkan-Klezmer- Gypsy-Punk-Super-Party-Band”; folksinger Brenna MacCrimmon; singer-songwriter and storyteller Jory Nash; the haunting roots duo Scarlett Jane; blues and jazz vocalist and 2013 JUNO nominee Shakura S’Aida; and 2013 JUNO nominee blues guitarist Steve Strongman.

All proceeds benefit MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS.

What: TIFF reunites with the JUNOS for a special showcase celebrating Canadian music on film, this event, sponsored by the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), profiles the 2013 JUNO Award nominees in the categories of Video of the Year (sponsored by MuchFACT, exclusively funded by Bell Media) and Music DVD of the Year. Hosted by MuchMore’s Matt Wells, The JUNOS at TIFF will shine a light on the creative connections between music and film. The evening will feature clips from the nominated films and videos followed by conversations with their directors.

2 Greatest Hits: The JUNO Tour of Canadian Art and JUNO Photography Exhibition Date: April 13-November 24, 2013 Time: Open during regular gallery hours. Location: MacKenzie Art Gallery, Sim Gallery and Agra Torchinsky Salon, 3475 Albert Street, Regina, SK

What: The MacKenzie Art Gallery is partnering with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the 2013 JUNO Awards to bring the JUNO Tour of Canadian Art to Regina. The exhibition features works by Canadian artists from the Permanent Collection that have been selected by past JUNO Award winner and nominees - as well as current nominees.

The JUNO Tour of Canadian Art has previously been featured at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. The MacKenzie will be the first gallery in Western Canada to host this exhibit. To date, members of Arkells, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Josh Winstead and Joules Scott-Key of Metric, Sarah Slean, Stars, Tegan and Sara, and Whitehorse, have explored the MacKenzie Vault, home to more than 4,000 works of art in the Permanent Collection. After selecting a piece band members record a video capturing their response to the art and choose one of their own songs they feel connect to the work.
