Many famous pop stars were there including Little Mix, Union J, Kingsland Road, Neon Jungle and Diversity. Our host was Kimberly Wyatt (from the Pussycat Dolls). During the gig, Kimberly tried to break a world record by taking a giant selfie. Also, to our surprise, our unit (8th Sidcup Guides) got a shout out from Kimberly which was amazing. At the gig all you could see were radiant lights beaming on the acts. Everyone was singing and dancing around. We were all screaming and bellowing until our throats were dry and sore. After the concert we rushed to cool our sore throats down with an ice cream #brainfreeze! Overall we had a blast and we would return in a heartbeat! Amelia, Jess and Alisha (all 11) from 8th Sidcup Guides Girlguiding LaSERIO 2014 This weekend, over 100 members attended Girlguiding LaSERIO, the Region's International Opportunities event. Members who went on Region trips in 2014 fed back amazing stories - picking tea in Kenya; establishing a Guide unit in rural Uganda; washing elephants in Sri Lanka; teaching literacy in Malawi - and so much more. In 2015, Region groups are going to India, Vietnam, USA and Ecuador. They will undertake service projects, in partnership with local development initiatives. We had a fantastic weekend organising intriguing challenges. Huge thanks to the Region International team who ran the event. Introduce your unit to WAGGGS, the wider Girlguiding family to which we belong and find out more about the Member Organisations. Speak to your County International Advisor for details about how to take your unit abroad. International opportunities change lives; they open members' eyes to the world beyond Girlguiding LaSER. Embrace these opportunities and consider how you can inspire your unit, District, Division or County. Reminder – Parliament Calling all LaSER Peer Week Educators! Don’t forget to book your tickets! Congratulations @loobylou1989 Siân's Adventures with the NSGSO! From 27th July - 3rd August 2014 I went to Monmouth for the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra's residential course. My county, division and district contributed towards my course fees and I organised a 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' competition. The music included Dvorak's 'New World' Symphony and 'Tunes from the Trenches' for the World War One centenary. We rehearsed for eight hours each day, with games and crafts for two hours every afternoon. Our concerts were held at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff and at the local Monmouth theatre. The audiences featured important figures from Girlguiding and Scouting, as well as our families. Both concerts went extremely well. I made lots of friends. I was the only one from the Darnley Division but did meet someone else from Girlguiding Kent West County! This is a fantastic opportunity for any musicians in Girlguiding. A small team of Girlguiding LaSER volunteers have commissioned a film crew - you might already have seen them in action at a Growing Up Wild event! We would welcome your ideas to make sure the video is about what matters to you. We want to know - what's the best thing about Girlguiding LaSER for you? Why do you volunteer? What difference does Girlguiding make the lives of the girls in your unit? What should we call the video? Also, let us know if you would like a copy of the video when it's ready?
