INTRODUCTION The Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima is divided in four subspecies: p. pulcherrima, p. incisa, p. rogerbarbouri and p. manni. The R.p. manni is the most imported Rhinoclemmys turtle in Europe.
STUDBOOK POPULATION. In the Studbook Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima manni are altogether 33 animals registered in 2007 : - 32 adults alive: 22 females and 10 males - 2 females dead (earlier years) - 46 hatchlings by 5 keepers (from several years)

This hatchlings were born in: - 2001 : 1 - 2002 : 1 - 2003 : 5 - 2004 : 7 - 2005 : 7 - 2006 : 11 - 2007 : 14 by 5 breeders.

LOCATIONS. At December 31, 2007 the species is kept in The Netherlands ( 5 places), Germany ( 2 place) , Italy (2 place) and Belgium (2 place).

IMPORTS. In 2007 there were several imports from San Salvador and a few imports from Nicaragua in Europe.
DEATHS. 1 death (female) is reported in 2007.
BOTTLE-NECK. Just as with the R. pulcherrima incisa the problems are the hybrids of R.p. manni x the other R.p. subspecies. Almost all R. pulcherrima hybrids are sold as R.p. manni.

REQUEST. The studbook keeper is still looking for new bloodlines in the EU-countries. Therefore the keepers of one of more Rhinoclemmys subspecies and especially the R.p. manni, who do not participate until this moment in this studbook, are gladly invited to contact the studbook-keeper and to participate in the breeding programme.
