Giving back to the surrounding community is as much a part of the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team as goals and ground balls. The Crusaders make sure they take time to reach out to the youth of Central Massachusetts. Here is a look at some of the com- munity service projects the Crusaders have been involved in over the last few seasons: • Members of the team participated in Mustache Madness to raise money for the HEADstrong Foundation. The Crusaders were joined by pro, collegiate and high school lacrosse players across the country to unite to raise funds and grow mustaches for a good cause. The HEADstrong Foundation was relentlessly founded by Nick Col- leluori, who passed away from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 21. HEADstrong dedicates its resources to funding cancer research and providing support to families and survivors of blood cancer. Its mission is to help Nick’s vision become a reality, one dollar at a time. • The team, known as “John’s Brothers,” volunteer every week during the school year. Matched with ethnically diverse children, the team spent two hours per week mentoring students both inside and outside the classroom. This program was formed 11 years ago to honor the memory of John Price, who died in a tragic accident after being elected captain of the 2001 lacrosse team. • The team is very involved in the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program in Worcester. In 2007, the team received the H. Martin Deranian Fellowship Award from Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts, for outstanding volunteer efforts. 6 22013013 HOOLYLY CRROSSOSS MEENN’S LAACROSSECROSSE 22013013 SCCHEDULEHEDULE

Founded in 1843 in Worcester, James. Academic life at Holy Cross is serious, challenging and exciting. Student-professor exchanges in the classroom, as well as in countless informal settings, are at the center of academic life at Holy Cross. With a student to faculty ratio of 11 to one, the opportunity for individual atten- tion is readily available. Few classes exceed an enrollment of 40, and most average 19 students. Holy Cross professors are widely respected in their academic special- ties. Many have national reputations for their research and publications, creative performances, recordings and exhibitions. Almost all of the nearly 300 full- and part-time fac- ulty members hold doctoral degrees from some of the fi nest universities here and abroad. Now in its third decade as an all-sport conference combining academic and athletic excellence, the Patriot League sponsors championships in 24 men and women’s sports. Initially started as an NCAA Division I-AA football conference in 1986, the Patriot League became an all-sport conference in 1990 and includes American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy as full members, and Fordham, Georgetown and MIT as associate members. Boston University will join the Patriot League as a full member beginning in the 2013-2014 school year. These institutions are among the oldest and most prestigious in the nation and their alumni have and continue to play leadership roles in shaping our country. Since 1998, the Patriot League has ranked fi rst each year among all Division I conferences awarding athletic aid in the NCAA Graduation Rate Report. The League fi nished at the top spot with nearly all of its teams reporting a graduation rate of 85 percent or higher in the most recent data. In addition, 84 teams from Patriot League full-member institutions earned NCAA Academic Performance Program
