Particularly, Airbnb is recording enormous number of listings worldwide, offering alternative lodging proposals to each possible customer profile visiting any destination, from popular city centers till exotic islands. The impact of such business remains a critical issue among tourism stakeholders. Hotels are facing a strong competitor and destination managers are trying to balance the benefits and the costs that Airbnb generates in terms of economy, society and environment. It is evident that sharing economy contributes to regional development with income potentials for property holders, often provoking externalities that affect local residents and destinations’ environment. However, what should be taken under consideration is indeed the type of destination and the degree of its tourism development, that is to say, its life cycle stage. This paper aims to indicate the differences observed in three Aegean Islands and leisure destinations, when it comes to the allocation and density of Airbnb vis-à-vis Hotel beds, as a tool for destination managers to measure the spatial impact of Airbnb and adjust their strategy based on the life cycle stage of each island. The cartographic depiction of the spatial allocation of the beds per accommodation type using a geographic information system (GIS) is adding particular value to the proposed tool. -

Therefore, the analysis of such events, such as providing information for their potential hazards assessment, is a key element in coastal management. In this study, a preliminary assessment of flood vulnerability due to storms was performed in Rhodes Island, Greece. Firstly, storm events were defined in terms of significant wave height, peak period, and duration, and they were grouped by means of cluster analysis into five classes (from weak to extreme) reflecting the intensity of each event. Subsequently, flood hazard was assessed by using an empirical formula for wave run-up calculations on cross-shore profiles and storm surge data at the region. Finally, a Flood Vulnerability Index (FVI) was used for assessing vulnerability according to a scale from very low to very high. The most intense storms were found to occur in the eastern, southeastern, and southern part of the island. More than 60% of storms were classified as weak, while extreme events were found to occur with a frequency of less than 2.5%. Regarding flood hazard and vulnerability, the maximum values of wave run-up were calculated in the southeastern region, but the most vulnerable part was found to be the northwestern region, as the FVI was assessed as very high for weak and extreme events. -

Verbreitungskarten aller nachgewiesenen Arten sowie eine aktuelle herpetologische Faunenliste werden erstellt. Folgende Arten wurden regelmäßig und wiederholt festgestellt: Bufo viridis, Hyla arborea, Pelophylax cerigensis, Mauremys rivulata, Hemidactylus turcicus, Laudakia stellio, Ophisops elegans, Lacerta trilineata, Anatolacerta oertzeni, Ablepharus kitaibelii, Chalcides ocellatus, Trachylepis aurata, Blanus strauchi, Typhlops vermicularis, Dolichophis sp., Platyceps najadum, Hemorrhois nummifer, Zamenis situla, Natrix natrix, Telescopus fallax. Box 712, P.C. 19013 Anavyssos, Attica, Greece Introduction The aim of the present research is the sedimentological and mineralogical study of the offshore deposits of Afantou Bay, Rhodes Island, Dodecanese, SE Aegean Sea, Greece, aspiring to the qualitative definition of a possible exploitable marine aggregates deposit, in the area bounded by the contours of ~15m (shallower boundary) and ~50m (deeper boundary). Methodology Twelve seabed sediments samples were collected from three profiles, running vertically to the coastline of Afantou [fig 1] by an HCMR scientific and technical group being onboard on the oceanographical ship ALKYON in late 2013. The samples were analyzed to identify their granulometry, density and mineralogy. Sedimentology The samples analyzed are granulometrically classified as: sand (S) (3 samples), gravelly sand ((g)S) (3 samples), slightly muddy sand ((g)mS) (5 samples), gravelly sand (gS) (1 sample), according to Folk 1973. In general, the samples trend to spatially distribute by the depth, specifically as the depth increases the grain-size of the sediment is finer. The granulometrical analysis shows that the sandy samples (S) occur at a depth between 10-20 meters, the gravelly sand samples at a depth between 20-30 meters, and the slightly muddy sandy samples between 30-40 meters depth. -

BACKGROUND In accordance with Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 1924/20061 Member States had provided the European Commission with lists of claims accompanied by the conditions applying to them and by references to the relevant scientific justification by 31 January 2008. EFSA has received from the European Commission nine Access databases with a consolidated list of 4,185 main health claim entries with around 10,000 similar health claims. The similar health claims were accompanied by the conditions of use and scientific references. The nine Access databases were sent in three batches - in July 2008, in November 2008 and in December 2008. Subsequently, EFSA combined the databases into one master database and re-allocated upon request of the Commission and Member States similar health claims which had been accidentally placed under a wrong main health claim entry (misplaced claims). During this process some Member States also identified a number of similar health claims which still needed to be submitted to EFSA (―missing claims‖). These similar claims were also added to the database. In March 2010, the European Commission forwarded to EFSA an addendum to the consolidated list containing an additional 452 main entry claims which have been added to the updated final database which was published on the EFSA website in May 2010 (containing 4,637 main entry claims). -

Csabai (2008): First annotated checklist of Chironomidae of Rhodos, Greece (Insecta, Diptera). – Spixiana 31/2: 223-231 Chironomid fauna of Greek Aegean islands, an essential part of the biogeo- graphically important Mediterranean region, is almost unexplored, with only 36 species recorded prior to the present study. It is especially true for Dodecanese islands (6 recorded species). In 2007, chironomid larvae and exuviae were collected in Rhodos, the largest member of the Dodecanese islands. Thirty-four taxa were identified (8 Tanypodinae, 10 Orthocladiinae, 16 Chironominae). None of the pre- viously recorded taxa were found; thus all collected species proved to be new for the fauna of Rhodos. An actualized checklist for the Chironomidae of Rhodos is given based on the literature and results of recent investigations.
