The South-eastern Aegean Keywords: South-eastern Aegean, Rhodes, Kos, burials, graves, pottery, sanctuary, cremation, inhumation, past Introduction The area of the South-eastern Aegean is defined here as the region known today as the Dodecanese and parts of Anatolia on the opposite coast, like the Halicarnassos peninsula. This area of the Aegean had been under the Minoan cultural influence from as early as the Middle Bronze Age in terms of its material culture and architecture (Georgiadis 2003). The South-eastern Aegean has yielded many remains of the LH III and the EIA, whilst it possesses a strategic position in the Aegean Sea in relation to its contacts and interactions with the Eastern Mediterranean. The traditional forms of explanation for culturalACCEPTAT development and change in this region have focused on migration and the presence of newcomers. In fact, this has been a common denominator in the understanding of the Southern-eastern Aegean equally for the Late Helladic III period and the Early Iron Age. The thorough and up-to-date presentation of the different cultural aspects and periods from this area will demonstrate the regional character and the idiosyncrasies that are visible already from the LH III phase.

München, download unter www.zobodat.at _________ Atalanta (August 1997) 28 (1/2):43-47, Würzburg, ISSN 0171-0079 _________ A contribution to the knowledge of the Papilionidae of Rhodes Island (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) by G iovanni Sa l a & M a u r iz io Bo llin o received 6.IV. 1996 Introduction In the present work the authors report considerations about distribution, ecology, and syste- matics of the Papilionidae of Rhodes Island, based on direct observations during a spring field-trip (10.-17.IV. 1994) and on works of many authors (Fruhstorfer , Rebel , Turati , Seyer , Weiss , Koçak, Olivier ). Following investigations done on Kriti Papilionidae, the first author visited all the known sites adding some new biotopes; the first intent was searching for the food plants, the preimaginal instars, the places of flight with the feeding plants of adults. The first author, with the cooper ation of three collegues, travelled the island for more than 880 km, visiting almost all localities cited by Olivier and trying to look for new biotopes in the southern part of Rhodes; the climatic situation was in syntony with the annual trend although a disturbance in the first days of April has delayed the emergence of populations of All. cerisy at higher altitudes in the center of the island, while those at sea level have already vanished; in the intermediate area the flight period was at its peak; generally the butterflies were scarce, only All. cerisy and Manióla telmessia were found in some numbers. We didn’t find any Archon apollinus despite the search along the whole of Rhodes; we presume that the flight period had already ended for quite a time because, at least, some worn specimens should have been found; if apollinus is present on Rhodes island, it is surely very local and rare.

GREECE HOSPITALITY MARKET DECEMBER 2018 GREECE HOSPITALITY MARKET - DECEMBER 2018 HOSPITALITY MARKET Over the past three years, the hospitality market in Greece has witnessed substantial business growth. Aside from the recognition that Greece is one of Europe’s leading and safest tourism destination, the other main contributing factors related to the new entry of internationally recognized operators and the sustained retrofitting and upgrading of existing hospitality assets, coupled with investments in the improvement of specific transport infrastructure. The renewed efforts in the active management of the sector’s non-performing loans (NPLs) also contributed to the movement in the hospitality property sector. At the same time, the hospitality sector continues to be affected by domestic challenges and international macroeconomic developments. In Greece, such challenges refer to the economic stability and growth prospects, the outstanding high ratio of the sector’s NPLs, the immigration issue in certain islands and the volatile tax framework. We also expect certain international developments to affect arrivals and related income from tourism. The Brexit negotiations outcome is one of them, whilst any further devaluation of Turkish lira could intensify competition. Other non-European markets (like Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia) in the Mediterranean market could also attract tourists and related investment capital as their situation stabilizes further and new hotel projects come to the market. MARKET DETERMINANTS FOR 2019 A possible downturn in the current tourism cycle is The lack of good quality serviced apartments in expected to be mild and rather expressed as a reduction the city of Athens and in other destinations, will in the demand growth rate of the Greek hospitality sector.

  • Monolithos Castle, Rhodes Island, Greece
Monolithos Castle, Rhodes island, Greece Monolithos Castle at the island of Rhodes in Greece Monolithos Castle is situated on Rhodes island, the largest of the Dodecanese islands located near the Aegean sea. The exotic location of the Rhodes island between the Greek mainland and the island of Cyprus makes it one of the popular tourist destinations in the world. Apart from these, there are a number of sites of historical and archeological importance that attract tourists. The Monolithos Castle is definitely one of the most popular places for sightseeing in Rhodes. The Monolithos Castle offers scenic views of the coastline. The location of the castle makes it a perfect place to bask in the bounties of nature. Climbing the rock to reach the castle is not as difficult as it appears. You need to climb some steps that pass through the lush green area. But, there are a few slippery steps, so you need to be careful. Even though the castle is small, yet if you have a close look, you will find that here are two hidden rooms. From the top you will be able to see courtyards dabbed in whitewash and decorated with geraniums, isolated beaches where people play games and splash in the waves, and stone houses with tiled roofs overlooking the great expanse of azure blue water that splashes upon the beach. These are the views of the nearby village that appears like an amphitheater. There are two small 15th century churches nearby, dedicated to Saint Agios Panteleimon and Saint Geroge. Both chapels are in ruins today.

Twelve caves of Western Mecsek, Southwest Hungary were examined between September 2010 and April 2013 from the millipede (Diplopoda) faunistical point of view.
