Upcoming Principal Message We all had a very enjoyable day at Public School last week for the Events inaugural Small Schools Sports Team Selection Trials and Friendship Day.

Darby Robertson. Lorenzo Sergi, Antonio Torino, Zoya Syed, Dean Smart, Emerson Brown Darby Robertson – excellent application during spelling activities. Lorenzo Sergi – solving addition and subtraction word problems using effective strategies. Antonio Torino – Recording numbers using expanded notation. Zoya Syed – successfully adding 3 numbers with different number of digits. Dean Smart – class Spelling Bee champion and accurately counting faces of 3 D objects. Emerson Brown – using “summarising” and visualising when comprehending texts.

NRL Inspire Respect Country Rugby League development Officers, Chris Hanneman and Andrew Lavaka will be visiting our school to do a presentation on the importance of Respect in everyday life, not just in sport.

Small Schools Swimming Carnival This Photo by Unknown Author is The Small Schools Swimming Carnival is on Thursday 20th February. All students in Years 3-6 will be attending as well as interested Year 2 students turning 8 this year and who can swim 25 metres. Weethalle Public School is organising the carnival. Mrs Dal Nevo and Mr Brown

This Photo by Unknown will be supervising students at the pool. The bus will leave school at 9.10am. Please return all permission notes and pool entry fee of $4.80 ASAP. I would also like to welcome parents and carers to the carnival to support the students and assist the staff on the day. Students in K-2 will attend school as normal. A big Thank You to the Robertson Family for donating the bus transport for the day. Good luck to all our students.

Ten Pin Bowling Ten Pin Bowling is being held on Fridays from 12.30-1.30pm. The dates are: 21 February, 6, 13 and 20 March and 3 April.

Scripture Scripture has begun. Students who have returned notes have been put into the scripture they have nominated. The students who have not returned notes have been placed in the same classes as last year.

Professional Learning On Thursday and Friday, I will be attending a Small Schools Conference in Queanbeyan. Mrs Dal Nevo will have my class as normal. On Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26, all teaching staff will be attending Additive Strategies training from 8.30am- 3.30pm at Griffith Public School. Mrs Nixon, Mrs Dal Nevo, Mrs Carbone and I will be attending. This is day 1 and 2 of 4 day numeracy training sessions, strongly linked to our School Plan focus area of whole school improvement in student mathematics achievement levels. Mrs Brown will be teaching Year 3-6 and Mrs Primrose will teach

K-2. This Photo by Unknown Author is Voluntary School Contributions 2020 voluntary school contributions will remain the same as previous years: $50 per student or $80 per family. I would like to encourage all members of the school community to contribute where possible and help the school provide more resources for students and subsidise more student activities.

School Photos Thursday 5 March- All students have been issued with their school photo envelopes. There are sibling’s envelopes available, at the school office, on request. You have the option to return the envelope to the school or order online. Please ensure your child is in full school uniform. The photographer would like to start at 12pm on Thursday 5th March.

Student Representative Council The Council has commenced selling ice blocks again. The price is 50cents an ice block. Last Thursday a Casual Day was held to raise funds for the Bush Fire Appeal. The day raised $46.25. Well done everybody! JOIN THE BLACK & WHITE PANTHERS IN 2020
