Beyond Diagnosis

Information for families dealing with and Blood Disorders

Compiled by Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers

Generously funded by Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation

Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers has put together this handbook of local, national and online resources that are available to patients and families who are facing a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis. There are two types of resources listed in this handbook: educational materials and information about support organizations.

We know how important it is to understand your child’s diagnosis, procedures, and anything related to the treatment process. This handbook will direct you to useful sources of educational materials.

There are many support organizations to help you in this journey. The handbook has identified many organizations that provide emotional support, aid with basic needs, and various programs such as camps, Arts in , and school reentry. Some of the organizations need an application or a referral in order to access their services. Visit with your social worker if you need help with the application process, or if you have any questions about this handbook.
