www.aylestoneparkleicester.org.uk Page 8 Aylestone Tram Terminus Most people think of the Aylestone Tram Terminus as the corner of Wigston Lane where the 'Rutland Hotel' used to be - but that was from 1904 when the electric trams started. The horse drawn trams originally ran from Leicester but only came as far as Grace Road. Legend tells us that there was a coffee house near this tram terminus. But where was it....? A newspaper article in the Leicester Chronicle 27th August 1898 (see right) proves its existence.
