the hampton classic 2014 Sponsor Report Letter from the Executive Director 2 Shanette Barth Cohen

Dear Sponsor,

Thank you so much for your support of the 2014 Hampton Classic, and your role in ensuring it was a truly fan- tastic event.

The world-class equestrian competition attracted record level crowds, with more than 50,000 people in atten- dance over our 8-day event. Competition got off to a great start on The Atlantic Opening Day, the highlight of which was the $50,000 Clear Channel Hunter Derby presented by MeadowView Farms.

A new feature on our show grounds was the Suncast International Stabling area. This tent offered large stalls and aisles. It also featured the “Groom’s Corner” lounge with snacks all week and complimentary breakfast and lunch on the last four days of the show courtesy of Panera. Additional hospitality elements were added as well, includ- ing a reception in the Jumper Ring II Tent hosted by Triple Crown Nutrition and receptions in the Boutique Garden at the Hermès, Dressage Collection and Le Fash boutiques. Complimentary tastings in the Grand Prix Tent, outside of the Longines Lounge, were also provided courtesy of Château D’Esclans and Pama Liqueur.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to some of our other key Sponsors – Merrill Lynch, Title Sponsor of the $15,000 Merrill Lynch Speed Derby, Douglas Elliman Real Estate, Title Sponsor of the $50,000 Douglas Elliman Grand Prix Qualifier and to , Presenting Sponsor of the $250,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix and FEI World Cup™ Qualifier.

In addition, we’d like to thank Longines, for their continued support of the $40,000 Longines Cup, the $30,000 Longines Rider Challenge, and for serving as our official media sponsor allowing for complimentary live stream- ing of all Grand Prix ring events. Longines also provided world class timing services as the official Time-Keeper of the Hampton Classic, and more than a dozen flat-screen TV’s around the show grounds so everyone could catch the competition.

We truly appreciate the entire roster of Hampton Classic sponsors. We wouldn’t have a successful show without your support and involvement. We hope you will continue to work with us next year and well into the future. Mark your calendars now for the 2015 Hampton Classic Horse Show: August 23 to August 30.

On June 23, 2014 the Hampton Classic Horse Show hosted its annual Corporate Sponsor Workshop at the New York Junior League Headquarters in New York City. More than 70 sponsors attended this gathering, which fea- tured guest speakers and the Classic’s management team, with an emphasis on assisting sponsors in getting the most out of their Hampton Classic partnership.

Claudia Pilato, Vice President Director of Marketing of Bridgehampton National Bank, spoke about the company’s expansion across Long Island and how they activate their sponsorship at the Hampton Classic. She made specific references to their presenting sponsorship of the LIHSSRD competition, an employee appreciation day, and a lun- cheon event in a Hampton Classic Chalet for more than 100 of their clients.

Courtney Ratcliffe, Director of Communications and Brand Management of Douglas Elliman played a short video about the real estate’s company’s presence in the Hamptons, and then discussed how she planned to raise brand awareness at the Hampton Classic. In addition to extensive signage, a special section of advertising in the Official Hampton Classic Program, Douglas Elliman also utilized their Chalet daily to entertain.

The keynote speaker, Christine Merser, of Blue Shoe Strategy, discussed ways in which sponsors could activate their sponsorships in meaningful ways at the Hampton Classic through social media.

Immediately following the presentations, attendees had an opportunity to network with one another and enjoy a delicious meal in the beautiful Junior League townhouse & courtyard. David Dimijian Photos advertising 3 Print - Radio - Television

The Hampton Classic Horse Show executes an extensive advertising campaign throughout the East End of Long Island, in the greater New York Area, and through equine media outlets with a much larger reach. Some ads ap- pear courtesy of our sponsors with whom we have trade relationships, and other ads are part of a paid advertising campaign. The Classic’s advertising placements this year included ads in local media outlets as well as in a variety of national and regional publications. Internet & E-blasts

The Hampton Classic website (designed by iEquine) offered competition schedules and results, photographs, gen- eral show information (including listings of boutique vendors, history, and accommodations) and sponsorship and advertising information. Corporate partners were highlighted with scrolling logos on the website. Longines provided a “countdown” to the event, and had a clock-face to tell the current time.

Exhibitors were also able to submit their entries online through Equestrian Connect. The service was offered free of charge.

The Hampton Classic sent out a handful of “blast” emails to the Hampton Classic’s email database. These email blasts often updated subscribers on developments at the show while tying in a special offer or invitation from a sponsor.

Social Media – Facebook, Twitter & Instagram The Hampton Classic’s Facebook page, now in its sixth year, has more than 16,000 followers. The Classic’s Face- book page includes photos, updated information, and

discussion topics year-round. For the fourth year, the Richard Photo Lewin show conducted an Exhibitor Index Cover art contest sponsored by Dan’s Papers. Children under the age of 18 submitted artwork and the Hampton Classic posted the finalists on Facebook. The image with the most “likes” was selected as the winner and appeared on the cover of this year’s Exhibitor Index. The Hampton Classic initiated a number of Facebook ad buys and “promoted posts” this year, leading to a significantly enhanced “reach.”

Hampton Classic Facebook posts are also disseminated via Twitter. This year, the Hampton Classic also provided its followers with real-time competition updates during the show week for all of its major competitions through Twit- ter. And, dozens of additional tweets and re-tweets were initiated to high- light winners, sponsor activities, shopping, and other happenings around the Hampton Classic show grounds.

The Hampton Classic’s Instagram account reached more than 3,750 follow- ers. The Hampton Classic’s Instagram showcases images of the show grounds throughout the year, and as the building process is underway over the sum- mer. Photos depicted the grounds growth from an empty field off-season 5

being built up to a “mini-city” as the show approached. The Hampton Classic Instagram feed was so popular it was highlighted in an issue of “Untacked” (a quarterly equestrian publication) as the feed to follow for equestrian enthusiasts.

GiltCity

For the fourth year, Hampton Classic was promoted as part of a special offer from GiltCity, where their subscribers could purchase discounted car- load week passes or a second-row VIP table on Opening Day, August 24. The “flash sale” through GiltCity served as an awareness builder to the site’s affluent subscriber base. Cross Promotion / Use of Logo

The Hampton Classic is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with a two pronged mission – to put on the best horse show possible and to support other non-profit organizations.

The Hampton Classic gives away VIP ticket packages (good Tuesday – Saturday) to charity auctions, valued at $2,500 per package, and a gift package of a general admission pass for the week, a poster, and a program, valued at $150, for charity raffles. Additionally, the Hampton Classic donates two Chalet Tables, valued at $17,500 each, to two select charity auctions. The Classic donated approximately $210,000 worth of Chalet Tables, VIP packages, and raffle packages for the 2014 show.

As the Hampton Classic’s “Official Community Part- ner,” Southampton Hospital has a booth on-site to ac- cept donations and inform visitors about the services of their hospital, receives VIP tables to interact with donors and other stake holders, and receives compli- mentary admission for all hospital employees. The Classic also makes an annual financial contribution to the hospital and has given more than $1.8 million since the partnership began.

FTI Consulting sponsored the “Jump for the ASPCA” Challenge. Each time the ASPCA jump was cleared in competition, FTI donated $5 to the ASPCA. During the $250,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix presented by Land Rover, FTI donated $100 for each successful jump effort, and during the jump-off, $1,000.
