Karen Shelton Stadium After spending 2017 playing and practicing at Duke’s stadium in Durham, the Tar Heels moved into their new facility at the start of preseason in August of 2018, and Karen Shelton Stadium was dedicated on Oct. 6, 2018. The facility was named for UNC’s head coach following a gift from Tar Heel supporters Ken and Cheryl Williams.
