What a year it has been! I can’t begin thank the NA3HL teams enough for the way they have handled and navigated through this season. The fact that we made it through a full regular season and playoffs in all five divisions is a testament to how invested everyone was to making sure our players could compete and develop. As a result, we now get to celebrate this weekend with two great events in one location, the Fraser Cup and the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament. While this season has been unique and one of the most challenging in our history, this weekend provides us with an opportunity to showcase our players, our teams, and our league. This weekend is also a bittersweet for all of us in the NAHL and NA3HL office, because we remember our long-time staff member Fraser Ritchie with the awarding of the Fraser Cup.

The NA3HL Selects Black team, under the direction of Americans head coach Jeff Heimel and featured forward Payton McSharry, went 0-for-2 during Monday’s tournament. The Selects Black team only managed to score one goal in each of their games (a 7-1 loss to the White squad comprised of members of the Frontier and West Divisions and a 5-1 setback to the Gold team with members of the Central and Coastal divisions). Payton McSharry played in both games but did not register any points. Meanwhile, the White team (Frontier/West Division team), after defeating the Selects Black team held on for an 8-5 victory over the Selects Red team. Americans standout Danny O’Donnell recorded two assists while goaltender Nick Nast won his second straight game at the tournament by stopping 16 of the 19 shots. In the previous matchup against the Selects Black team, O’Donnell had one assist and Nick Nast earned six saves. During the tournament finale, the Selects Black team faced off against the Gold (Central/Coastal Division) team in an early morning contest and the tournament concluded with the White (Frontier/West Division) challenging the Green squad (East/Midwest Division).

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Great Falls Americans Press Release Contact: Kevin Scott, GF Americans Public Relations Coordinator Phone: (406) 403-8146 Americans fall to Granite City, 4-1 during the first day of the NA3HL Showcase Tourney By Kevin Scott Box Score Game Sheet League Scoreboard Americans Team Statistics BLAINE, Minn., December 15, 2019 — The Great Falls Americans (21-3-3) began their sixth season as members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) in September and October with 10 wins in 13 contests. Earlier in the season they were sitting in third place but have since made the jump to second behind the top team in the NA3HL, the Bozeman Ice Dogs (24-3-0-0), whom they have yet to face this season. Great Falls will see them in early January 2020 for their first matchup. The Americans opponent in Sunday’s Showcase tournament is the Granite City Lumberjacks from the NA3HL’s West Division. The Lumberjacks (19-4-0-0) from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota started at 10-3 and have since won eight of their nine games. Granite City is six points (44-38) behind the first place, North Iowa Bulls, who are 21-4-2. Greg Sears, is in his second season at the helm of the Great Falls junior hockey franchise, is led by two forwards and two league-leading goaltenders. Returning forward Jack Olson paces the Americans with 40 points including 29 assists and teammate and newcomer to this year’s squad, Jake Hayes, has 19 goals scored to lead the experienced Americans. Netminders Viktor Wennberg (14-2-1) and Trever Mellen (7-1- 2) have only combined to lose six games after 27 games.

The Future Prospects Combines are driven by the North American Hockey League and operated by the NAHL in order to serve the most valuable asset to hockey… the players. The combines provide a valuable opportunity for players and parents that want to gain true experience, education and exposure. With so many op- tions in the marketplace the participating players in the combines can rest assure that you are getting the correct information from the NAHL profes- sional staff whose sole purpose is to educate future players, expose them to junior options and to provide a valuable experience throughout the process. The intent and goal is to provide the aspiring hockey player an opportunity while participating in the combines to take part in a one-of-a-kind experience that is designed to maximize exposure that provide a true look and feel of the genuine ‘NAHL Experience.’ The ‘NAHL Experience’ means that the combines are carefully designed to provide exposure, education and an experience for prospects that strive to advance their hockey development at the junior hockey and college level. Now in our fourth year of hosting FPC events, we hope that both the players and families have a great experience of competition, make new friends and come away from this event better prepared to make an informed decision regarding the next steps in their hockey careers.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Great Falls Americans Press Release Contact: Kevin Scott, GF Americans Public Relations Coordinator Phone: (406) 403-8146 NA3HL 18U Selects overcome deficit to defeat the South, 5-4 By Kevin Scott ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 24, 2015 — The NA3HL 18U Selects team was hoping to go 1-0-1 at the 2015 Top Prospects Tournament on Tuesday morning when they faced the NA3HL’s South Division in the final day of the Michigan tournament. The 18U Selects team suffered a 3-2 setback in a game that featured a shootout against the Frontier squad on Monday. The NA3HL 18U Selects team dug themselves out of a three-goal deficit to defeat the South Division 5-4 on the second and final day of action at the Top Prospects Tournament on Tuesday morning. Both teams finished with one loss at the tournament with South falling to the West 7-1 on Monday. Travis Kothenbeutel (Granite City Lumberjacks) put the NA3HL 18U Selects ahead 1-0 after the first period of action. His goal with 13:41 left in the opening period was assisted by Kohei Sato (North Iowa Bulls) and Jake Cox (Point Mallard Ducks). Each team took six shots on goal. The 18U Selects team quickly found themselves down 4-1 to the South in the middle period with goals by Kyle Van Wyk (Nashville Jr. Predators), Matthew Jung (Sugar Land Imperials), Hank Roers (Topeka Capitals) and Kyle Rimbach (Topeka Capitals). St. Peters, Missouri’s St. Peters Rec Plex played host to both tournaments this year. (Due to COVID-19 cancellations from the regular season, the Top Prospects was moved from February to April). This year, the teams were not comprised of the five divisions that make up the NA3HL like in years past rather they had four teams with the following names with mixed rosters: Team Krampade, Team K1, Team Apex, and Team Bauer. Each of the TPT teams (88 players and eight coaches total) will each play two games over two days with each squad having 22 players (13 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders) along with a head coach and an assistant coach. Respective head coaches nominated any players that were considered for the prestigious event. The two-day Top Prospects Tournament took place on April 18-19th. The 2021 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament provided an opportunity for the NA3HL to showcase their best hockey players in front of coaches and scouts from the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the NCAA college levels.

The three-day tournament takes place today (Monday) through Wednesday from the USA Hockey Arena. The 2015 NA3HL Top Prospect’s Tournament along with the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Top Prospects Tournament and the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) Championship provides an opportunity for each league to showcase their best hockey players in front of coaches and scouts from the college level to the National Hockey League (NHL). The Great Falls Americans featured seven players (Arseny Ivanov, Brendan Jester, Connor Barta, Jake Stephan and Josh Larson) with five of them suiting up for the Frontier Division team and two for the NA3HL’s 18 and under Selects Black team (Tanner Condon and Ricards Bernhards). Americans head coach Jeff Heimel will guide the Frontier squad. The Frontier team faced off against the South Division team during the first day of (a three day) competition at the NA3HL’s Top Prospect’s Tournament on Monday night. Meanwhile, the 18U Selects Black team played later against the West Division. The Frontier Division took a 5-2 lead into the second intermission and hung on to defeat the South Division 6-4 during first day action at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament on Monday afternoon in Plymouth, Michigan.
