INTERNATIONAL COMMISSIONERS ALL NSO & NSA RE: INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 107 YEARS OF SCOUTING IN 2019 (ZANZIREE 2019)

Greetings from Tanzania Scouts Association INTRODUCTION The Tanzania Scouts Association would like to inform and invite all scouts from all over the world to participate in the historical and memorable Zanziree event which will take place in Zanzibar Island, from 24th to 28th June 2019. HISTORY OF SCOUTING IN ZANZIBAR Scouting in Zanzibar established in 1912. Since it’s establishment, scouting in Zanzibar kept growing up to this time when is celebrating 107 years old. This event is expected to attract more than 2000 scouts and friends of scouts from all over the world. This celebration motivated by Tanzania Main Land Centenary Scout’s Jamboree, which held at Dodoma in 2017. During this centenary, the Government of Zanzibar promised to support the Zanzibar Jamboree (Zanziree) this year 2019. VENUE The Zanziree celebration will take place at Maisara playground which is next to Stone Town and is located in Zanzibar Urban/West, Tanzania. PARTICIPANTS The eligible participants are as follows: (a) Cub scouts aged 9 years to 10 years old. (b) Junior Scouts aged 11 years to 12 years old. (c) Senior scouts aged13 years to 14 years old. (d) Rover scouts aged 14 years to 17 years old. (e) Adult scouts who may choose to be International Service team or adult leaders. PARTICIPATION FEE: Participation fees are as follows: (a) Tanzanian scouts will contribute Tzs. 80,000/= which will cover meals, inland transport and event badge. (b) Scouts who are from East African countries will contribute Usd. $ 80/= which will cover meals, inland transport and event badge. (c) Scouts who are from outside Africa will contribute Usd. $ 150 which will cover meals, inland transport and event badge. CONFIRMATION All participants who intend to participate in this exciting big event are humbly encouraged to fill the confirmation form (attached) and return to the Association through its email address ([email protected]) before 20th May 2019. The participation fees should be paid to the Association Account; Account Name: TANZANIA SCOUTS ASSOCIATION. Bank Name: NATIONAL MICROFINANCE BANK (NMB) ZANZIBAR Account Number: 22910032514. After your payment, please bring your bank pay slip on your arrival at the camp site. Participants of this event, who are from outside Tanzania and Africa are requested to inform the organisers their itinerary plan well in advance.

Participants coming from outside Tanzania and wish to fly from their respected countries are advised to land at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) or Abeid Amani Karume International Airport – ZNZ. Another option for participants who will land at JNIA is to arrange a local flight from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, [duration 45 minutes to 1 hour] or to take fast ferry boat to Zanzibar which cost Usd. $ 35 and take about two hours.

VISA: Participants from East Africa Community do not require visa to enter Tanzania. However, participants from outside East Africa countries and other part of the World will be granted visa on arrival at the following entry points; Julius Nyerere International Airport (JKNIA) or Abeid Amani Karume International Airport – ZNZ. The cost of visa is USD 50.00

ACCOMMODATION IN HOTELS For other participants who would like to stay in the hotels will be required to inform the Association who will arrange the bookings and other logistics. The hotel rates range from Usd. $ 100 to 350/= THINGS TO CARRY All participants who will be to carry their tent, scout uniform, sports costumes and attire, light shoes for hiking, casual wear, towel, sandals, washing and bathing soap, tooth brush & paste, sleeping bag, bed sheet, blanket mosquito repellant and a torch. WEATHER The weather of Zanzibar in June/July; the humidity is high and daily temperatures reach the low-mid 30°C. The long dry season, when rainfall is fairly unusual.

INSURANCE It is recommended to arrange the travel and medical Insurances. Please carry medicines which you may need in emergency.
