Context Diagram Planning Background
The proposed development site is zoned as Green Belt in the Edinburgh Local Development Plan 2016 (LDP). However, the City Council has indicated that it intends to replace this LDP by 2021, and as part of this process the boundaries of the Green Belt may be changed.
Barratt & David Wilson Homes have discussed with the Council their wish for the site to be allocated for housing in the replacement LDP. This consultation exercise will assist in gaining a better understanding of local considerations and gather ideas for how the site could be Special developed. No decision has yet been taken on the timescale for the landscape area submission of a planning application.

Proposed masterplan framework Concept
The masterplan concept has been informed by the site constraints and the development opportunities which surround the site. The new neighbourhood will integrate within the existing urban form of the area and will establish a strong rural edge to the south-east as well as creating a number of valuable footpath connections and areas of open space. In addition, the concept for the site will:
• Provide positive frontage onto Frogston Road East, primary streets and areas of open space. • Creation of 'landscape corridor' through site which links to north and south. • Provide two primary road connections from Frogston Road East, which forms primary 'loop' road through site. • Create visual connections to Pentland Hills to south-west. • Form SuDS basins to north and south, at lowest points on site. • Create pedestrian connection to new primary school. We will take account of all comments made through the preparation of a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report, which will summarise all of the feedback received and how this has influenced the final proposals.
