Talking Book Topics September–October 2015 Volume 81, Number 5 About Talking Book Topics Talking Book Topics is published bimonthly in audio, large-print, and online formats and distributed at no cost to individuals who are blind or have a physical disability and participate in the Library of Congress reading program. It lists digital audiobooks and magazines available through a network of cooperating libraries and covers news of developments and activities in network library services. The annotated list in this issue is limited to titles recently added to the national collection, which contains thousands of fiction and nonfiction titles, including bestsellers, classics, biographies, romance novels, mysteries, and how-to guides. Some books in Spanish are also available. TBT and BBR now available through NFB-NEWSLINE Patrons may now access audio versions of Talking Book Topics (TBT) and Braille Book Review (BBR) through NFB-NEWSLINE, a free audible information service provided by the National Federation of the Blind. Once they register for NFB- NEWSLINE, patrons will find the NLS publications under the Blindness Specific sub-category of Magazines. Each annotation is listed as a separate article, allowing patrons to easily navigate the magazines in search of relevant titles. Books for Adults Books listed in this issue of Talking Book Topics were recently sent to cooperating libraries. The complete collection contains a wide range of fiction and nonfiction books, including biographies, classics, westerns, mysteries, romances, and others. These books are listed alphabetically within the headings Adult Fiction and Adult Nonfiction by subject category, author last name, and title. For example the title War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy would be listed in Adult Fiction under the Classics subject category and by the last name Tolstoy. Note: A notice may appear immediately following the book description to indicate occurrences of violence, strong language, or descriptions of sex. The word “some” before any of these terms indicates an occasional or infrequent occurrence, as in “some strong language.” Commercial audiobooks for which NLS does not have access to the print book may display the notice “unrated,” which means that the book may or may not contain violence, strong language, or descriptions of sex.
