    Oppose Constitutional Convention Q4: Repeal GPO/WEP Q5

LEGISLATORS RESPONSES TO THE LRTA SURVEY The Louisiana Retired Teachers Association surveyed political candidates during the 2019 election cycles. The Association asked the candidates the following questions: 1. LRTA opposes any legislation that would alter the defined benefit structure of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL). During previous legislative sessions, several bills were created to switch the current defined benefit plan provided by TRSL to a hybrid plan. LRTA continues to oppose these bills, such as SB 14 (2018) and HB 28 (2019). If similar bills appeared in future legislative sessions, would you oppose or veto these bills? 2. LRTA supports Permanent Benefit Increases (PBIs) when the criteria to grant one is met. TRSL benefit recipients have not received a PBI since 2016. Would you support legislation to grant a PBI should TRSL meet the criteria to grant one? 3. LRTA opposes constitutional conventions that would remove budgetary protections for education and retirement. If constitutional convention is proposed in a future legislative session, would you oppose or veto these bills? 4. LRTA supports the repeal of the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP). The GPO and the WEP are Social Security federal provisions that reduce retired public employee’s individual Social Security and survivor benefits. Retired teachers in Louisiana are subject to the GPO and WEP. Given the opportunity, would you support the repeal of the GPO and WEP? 5. LRTA supports teacher and support staff pay raises and adequately funding education through the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP). Do you support teacher pay raises and adequately funding education through the MFP? Australia V. West Indies Boxing Day Test

AUSTRALIA V. WEST INDIES DECEMBER 28, 2015 BOXING DAY TEST FACT SHEET - DAY 3 LIBRARY Beginning with the inaugural Test match in March 1877, 107 Tests have been staged at the MCG. One Test, in 1970/71, was abandoned without a ball bowled and is not counted in the records. Fourteen of the matches have involved West Indies, Australia winning 10 of those contests, West Indies three, with the other drawn. The other sides to play Tests at the MCG are England (55), India (12), South Africa (12), Pakistan (9), New Zealand (3) and Sri Lanka (2). Only Lord's Cricket Ground (130) has hosted more Test matches than the MCG. As Lord's currently has two Test matches per summer (it hosted three in 2010), it will extend its lead as the MCG has not hosted two Test matches in the same season since 1981/82. Of the 114 Tests between Australia and West Indies to date, Australia has won 57, West Indies 32, one has been tied and the remaining 24 drawn. The current Test is Australia's 785th and West Indies’ 512th. Of its 784 Tests to date, Australia has won 369 (47.06 per cent), lost 208 (26.53 per cent) and tied two. The remaining 205 have been drawn. The fact sheets for today's game will review the inaugural five-Test series between the two countries, the first match beginning at Adelaide Oval on 18 December 1930, 85 years ago, almost to the day. A summary of each match will appear during the course of this game.

12 FOCUS WINTER 2007 the Broncos’ EPIC JOURNEY It started in December 2005 with Chris Petersen’s promotion from offensive coordina- tor to head coach and ended on New Year’s Day 2007 with a stunning and astounding 43-42 overtime win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl (pictured). FOCUS looks back at the 2006 Boise State football team’s 13-0 storybook season. (John Kelly photo) FOCUS WINTER 2007 13 yes, IT REALLY HAPPENED By Bob Evancho At times, it still seems surreal — as if what we watched unfold on the evening of New Year’s Day didn’t really happen: Did we just tie the game on fourth-and-18 from the 50 with seven seconds left? Did Vinny just hit “Shoe” with that TD pass? DID IAN REALLY JUST SCORE ON A STATUE OF LIBERTY TO WIN THE GAME?! MAGIC MOMENTS Ian Johnson races to the end zone for the game-winning 2-point conversion against Oklahoma as guard Jeff Cavender (64) watches. Opposite page top: Fiesta Bowl Defensive MVP Marty Tadman rejoices in the PHOTOS JOHN KELLY victory. Bottom: Quarterback Jared Zabransky hoists the Offensive MVP award. 14 FOCUS WINTER 2007 y now, we all know it wasn’t a dream. And by now, the adjectives B to describe that win and those moments have been exhausted. Weeks later, Bronco Nation has come back down to Earth. Since Boise State’s sublime 43-42 overtime win over Oklahoma in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the mood of the Boise State faithful has slowly changed from unfettered exuberance to warm contentment, the kind that lasts for months.
