BABE RUTH TO RETURN TO EVERETT “First visit since 1928 charity game a Glendale Park” (Lou Gehrig & Babe Ruth at Glendale Park. Bat Boy is future City Auditor Lenny McDonald, also in photo is Everett Mayor James Roche to the right of the Babe and Red Sox Manager Bill Carrigan in uniform) In celebration of Everett’s 125th Anniversary as a city, the spirit of Yankees legend Babe Ruth will return to the city to participate in the July 22nd parade. The Bambino visited Everett on August 9, 1928 as part of an exhibition game featuring Ruth and Lou Gehrig to raise funds for the families of the victims the Great Beacon Oil Explosion that occurred in February of the same year. More than a dozen men lost their lives in the disaster and many more were seriously injured. The game raised an incredible amount of $10,000.Babe Ruth impersonator, Steve Folven with his uncanny resemblance to The Babe, will bring the Bambino to life in Everett once again. With a lifelong passion for baseball Steve makes the Babe come to life; appearing at baseball fields, charities, card shows and numerous events in the Boston and New York areas over the past years. As the historic Yankee, he creates quite the attraction, posing for photos with people of all ages. Since beginning his role as The Babe, Steve Folven has been photographed with many New England and national celebrities such as Yogi Berra, Roger Clemens, Pete Rose and Leigh Montville, author of the recently published Babe Ruth biography, "The Big Bam.".

Specifically, this study attempts to establish a logical expansion and adaptation of Bale’s Four-Stage Ideal-type on the Evolution of the Modern English Soccer Stadium appropriate for the history of professional baseball and football and that predicts future changes in American sport facilities. In essence, it is the author’s intention to provide a more coherent and comprehensive account of the evolving professional baseball and football sport facility and where it appears to be headed. This investigation concludes eight stages exist concerning the evolution of the professional baseball and football sport facility. Stages one through four primarily appeared before the beginning of the 20th century and existed as temporary structures which were small and cheaply built. Stages five and six materialize as the first permanent professional baseball and football facilities. Stage seven surfaces as a multi-purpose facility which attempted to accommodate both professional football and baseball equally.

His name has entered the popular lexicon, where “Ruthian” is a synonym for a superhuman feat, and other greats are referred to as the “Babe Ruth” of their field. Ruth’s name has even been attached to modern players, such as Shohei Ohtani, the Angels rookie known as the “Japanese Babe Ruth”. Ruth’s on field records and off-field antics have entered the realm of legend, and as a result, Ruth is often looked at as a sort of folk-hero. This thesis explains why Ruth is seen this way, and what forces led to the creation of the mythic figure surrounding the man.
