CROSSRAIL CENTRAL STATIONS UPDATE NEW INTERIM STATION ENTRANCE OPENS IN WHITECHAPEL A new temporary entrance was completed and opened earlier this year allowing the major upgrade works to the main entrance and integrated ticket hall to take place. The preparation works to install new platforms have commenced with the first section of platform due to be installed in March. Construction of a 30 metre deep shaft at Cambridge Heath is progressing well with fit-out work now underway.

FITTING OUT PADDINGTON STATION Installation of platforms at Paddington was successfully achieved making way for station fit-out. A new pedestrian walkway from the existing Bakerloo line platforms to the new Crossrail station site under Eastbourne Terrace in Paddington has reached a major milestone. The primary lining of this link has been completed ahead of schedule and the focus at the site has shifted to the onward fit-out of tunnels and the wider station.

PRE-CAST PLATFORM INSTALLATION STARTS AT LIVERPOOL STREET Construction of platforms has started. The platforms are being built using pre-cast concrete segments manufactured offsite in Nottinghamshire. Fit-out works of the Blomfield shaft, a 15 storey structure that will house ventilation and railway systems equipment, began following installation of the final structural beams over the winter.

FLOATING TRACKS BEING INSTALLED AT TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD Following completion of platform construction, works are now underway to prepare the station tunnel for installation of the floating track slab. This specialist track provides cushioning to reduce the impact of noise and vibration as trains pass through at sensitive parts of the route. Construction of a 10 storey ventilation shaft at Goslett Yard is also progressing well and due to be structurally complete in April.

PLATFORMS INSTALLED AT WOOLWICH Installation of the platforms and platform edge screen frames, which will support the full height screen doors, for the eastbound tunnels is complete. The station rooms that will house the mechanical and electrical equipment required to operate the railway have also been completed ahead of preparation works to fit-out the station.
