THE PENINSULA — DOHA

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Qatar Charity (QC) has developed a contingency plan to help the concerned local authorities in the countries of sits field offices curb the spread of COVID-19. Qatar Charity has responded to the requests for assistance received from several health ministries and other local bodies of the countries to support their efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. Qatar Charity is now working on helping 30 countries to limit the outbreak of this pandemic. It has already launched aid campaigns in Palestine, Kenya, Kosovo, Chad, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan and Lebanon to distribute medical equipment and hygiene items such as liquid soap, sterilizers, masks, thermometers, gloves, and tissue papers. These campaigns are implemented through Qatar Charity’s field offices in cooperation with international organizations. In Tunisia, sums of money were allo- cated after coordination with the relevant authorities to curb the spread of corona- virus, while another amount was allocated in Morocco to contribute to the fund for pandemic management. Since awareness of this pandemic is one of the most important reasons to limit the spread of COVID-19, QC, through its office in Pakistan, has launched an awareness cam- paign targeting all beneficiaries of its projects and programs, especially orphans. Besides, the office has prepared a contingency plan for its staff, in addition to developing infor- mation, education and communication (IEC) materials to make society, aware of taking preventive and precautionary measures.
