EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 INTRODUCTION Forbesganj college, Forbesganj was established in 1959. It was then under the purview of Bhagalpur university. After the formation of L. N. Mithila University, the college got affiliated to it. It became a constituent of it on 1st April 1977. Later when B.N. Mandal University came into being in 1992, the college was one of its 28 constituent colleges. Forbesganj college, Forbesganj has been a constituent unit of the newly established Purnea University, Purnia since March 2018. Geographically it is located in the India-Nepal border. Nepal’s industrial town Birat Nagar is merely 15 kms away from here. The border of West Bengal is only 45 Kms away in the east and the border of Bangladesh is 62 Kms from here. Another constituent college, Araria College is 35 kms from here in the south. This is to say that this college captures a sizable area of academic growth. This is the land where renowned novelist of hindi late Sri. Pharnishwar Nath Renu got his making. His native village is nearly 10 kms in the south from here. This college attract a large number of graduation students in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The University is formed to cater the needs of higher education of Purnea Division spread over four districts namely Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar. The university envisions to become a globally acclaimed academic and research institution that inspire meaningful transformations to ensure holistic growth and development of the society. The mission of university is to generate a community of scholars for best teaching and learning practice around the world, to inculcate in the learners for ethical, ecological and economic issues of knowledge, to provide knowledge based scientific solutions to satisfy the needs of society and industry. The university is committed to be a world class excellence in education in the coming year. At present university runs in the campus of Purnea College, Purnea but very soon it will have its own campus in which offices, residences, sports & cultural spaces, academic & administrative blocks, conference hall, examination hall, library, laboratories, guest house, university health care centre, hostels, canteen, Yoga and Dhyan Kendra, Information and Communication System (ICS) cell, training & placement cell, international affair cell and all other basic amenities will be available.
