An RFP was released in March 2020. During the Open File Period and Notice of Intent to Award a discrepancy was discovered in the calculation of the cost proposals. The Central Procurement Office/RFP Coordinator notified the TDOC that the current RFP may need to be cancelled and re-issued due to this discrepancy while the procurement documents are further reviewed. At this time, Central Procurement and TDOC are determining whether to move forward with the current RFP noting the scoring issue as part of the procurement file or to cancel the current RFP, correct the scoring issue and then re-issue the RFP. This extension will allow continued necessary services during the review and re-issue of the RFP. Buddi, US is incorporated in Florida. TDOC Legal Staff finds no records concerning allegations of fraudulent activity by this vendor.     ABSTRACT HUMANITIES DECUIR, MICHAEL B.A. SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT NEW ORLEANS, 1987 M.A. THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, 1989 THE INFLUENCE OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG ON THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE 1923–1930 Committee Chair: Timothy Askew, Ph.D. Dissertation dated August 2018 This research explores Louis Armstrong’s artistic choices and their impact directly and indirectly on the African-American literary, visual and performing arts between 1923 and 1930 during the period known as the Harlem Renaissance. This research uses analyses of musical transcriptions and examples of the period’s literary and visual arts to verify the significance of Armstrong’s influence(s). This research also analyzes the early nineteenth century West-African musical practices evident in Congo Square that were present in the traditional jazz and cultural behaviors that Armstrong heard and experienced growing up in New Orleans. Additionally, through a discourse analysis approach, this research examines the impact of Armstrong’s art on the philosophical debate regarding the purpose of the period’s art. Specifically, W.E.B. Upon its original completion, this Capitol was considered one of the most magnificent public buildings in the country. Interestingly, the facility has served as the seat of Tennessee State Government since that time and remains a source of pride for our citizens today. Visitors from around the world come to Nashville to tour the grounds and legislative chambers. Utilized since 1853, our Senate Chamber’s significance exceeds the beauty of the walls surrounding it. The chamber, as a forum for debate and discussion, epitomizes our democracy; speeches delivered here have resonated well beyond the upstairs gallery ushering change to the entire country.

While Chinese and Chinese American characters are increasingly found in television and films, the literature on their media representation, especially in television dramas is limited. Most studies tend to focus on audience reception with little concentration on a show's substantive content or style. This thesis helps to fill the gap by exploring how Chinese and Chinese American characters are portrayed and how these portrayals effect audiences' attitude from both an in-group and out-group perspective. The thesis focuses on four popular US based television dramas aired between 2010 to 2018. Drawing on stereotype and stereotyping theories, applying visual analysis and critical discourse analysis, this thesis explores the main stereotypes of the Chinese, dhow they are presented, and their impact. I focus on the themes of enemies, model minor- ity, female representations, and the accepted others. Based on the idea that the media can both con- struct and reflect the beliefs and ideologies of a society I ask how representational practice and dis- cursive formations signify difference and 'otherness' in relation to Chinese and Chinese Americans. I argue that while there has been progress in the representation of Chinese and Chinese Americans, they are still underrepresented on the screen.
