Free Food Giveaway! FARM SHARE Free Food Giveaway! That’s what the flyer read and was posted throughout District 13 telling residents that State Representative Tracie Davis and volunteers of Farm Share would be giving away food in the WELLS FARGO HISTORIC SPRINGFIELD Community Learning center parking lot. Although the giveaway was for residents of District 13 everybody was welcomed. Although temperatures were high this did not deter those looking for assistance with food supplies. Lines began in the parking lot and zigzagged towards Hubbard Street near 7th Street. Friends were made and people fellowshipped while waiting to be served. The usually pushing, shoving and discontent was nowhere to be seen. Everyone appeared to realize there was enough provision for everyone. The event appeared to be well organized and roughly three hundred people were present. For this report, a contact was made with State Rep. Davis’s office. District Executive Secretary Kiaira Nixon reported that…” Representative Davis, Earl and I learned that our team served a total of 294 households, 818 individuals with a total of 13,890.75 pounds of food.
