This report is the result of a multi stakeholder collaboration that took place in a 12 week period early in 2016, where we at Child Helpline International, many of our CPS – Child Protection System member child helplines, UNICEF, partners and others worked intensely to achieve our objectives. -

A complainant said the output broadcast around midnight on 7/8 May 2007 was too sexually explicit for un-encrypted transmission, particularly in a segment at 00:27. -

Untold Damage: Children's Accounts of Living
UNTOLD children’sDAMAGE accounts of living with harmful parental drinking Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) SHAAP was established by the Scottish Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties to raise awareness about alcohol-related harm and to advocate for evidence-based policy measures formulated by public health interests to reduce this harm.A key priority for SHAAP is to highlight the impact of harmful drinking on people other than the drinker and in particular, the impact on children and young people. ChildLine in Scotland ChildLine in Scotland offers a free, 24-hour confidential telephone helpline for any child or young person with any problem.ChildLine provides a counselling service to around 30,000 children and young people every year.The majority of calls are from children between the ages of 11 and 15 years.Volunteer counsellors listen to children and young people and offer support, advice and protection where appropriate. The service aims to give voice to the children and young people who contact ChildLine to talk about the issues that are affecting their lives. In Scotland the service is delivered by Children 1ST on behalf of the NSPCC. What boys talk about to ChildLine “Boys at school strangle, punch and kick me. I feel lonely and angry with the teachers who seem to do nothing and I feel suicidal.” (Boy, aged 15) “I have spent most of my childhood being bullied by people at school. I was physically and mentally abused by the other children. I feel I have no friends and everyone is laughing at me.” (Boy, aged 18) “I have no support. No one listens to me.” (Boy, aged 16) “I'm just so depressed and low, sometimes I just feel really worthless.” (Boy, aged 16) “When boys call it is the absolute last resort. They have tried absolutely everything.” (ChildLine counsellor) “I think they’re surprised that someone’s there and someone is listening to them.” (ChildLine counsellor) Key findings • Between 2002/03 and 2007/08, the annual number of boys counselled by ChildLine more than doubled, rising from 24,823 to 58,311. • Over the past five years, the boy-to-girl ratio of callers has increased, changing from one boy for every four girl callers to one boy for every two girl callers. • Bullying was the single biggest reason for boys calling ChildLine in 2007/08, making up 22 per cent of boys’ calls or 12,568 calls. • Family relationship problems constituted the largest additional reason for boys calling ChildLine. Twenty-two per cent of calls mentioned family relationship problems as a main or additional concern. • In 2007/08, 4,780 boys rang ChildLine to disclose sexual abuse. Of these, 1,803 rang to report that they had been raped. -

2 don’t understand why so many people are angry with the recent iTunes promotion of U2’s new album. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying this because I am a fan of the band, or because I think it is a remarkable record. It’s not, and I’m not. The band have made much better records in the past, and they have made considerably worse ones. That isn’t the issue. There have been times in my life when I have been quite impressed with the band’s output, although I would never have called myself a true blue fan. But that isn’t the issue either. The issue is why are so many people incensed by the fact that iTunes paid the band an undisclosed sum (said to be in the multiple millions) to send a copy of the record to everybody who had an iTunes account on the day in question? Those beneficiaries included Dear Friends, me, by the way – twice. Welcome to another issue of Gonzo Weekly The album can be removed from your playlists magazine.
