The names of Chairmen of the various Standing Committees and Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees along with their local residential addresses and telephone numbers have also been shown at the beginning of the publication. The names of Members of the Lok Sabha serving on the Joint Committees on which Rajya Sabha is represented have also been included under the respective Committees for information. Change of nominations/elections of Members of Rajya Sabha in various Parliamentary Committees/Statutory Bodies is an ongoing process. As such, some information contained in the publication may undergo change by the time this is brought out. When new nominations/elections of Members to Committees/Statutory Bodies are made or changes in these take place, the same get updated in the Rajya Sabha website. The main purpose of this publication, however, is to serve as a primary source of information on Members representing various Committees and other Bodies on which Rajya Sabha is represented upto a particular period. -

New Members of Rajya Sabha gets Committees Shri Scindia - Committee on HRD, Shri Digvijay Singh - Urban Development, Shri Sharad Pawar - Defence, Shri Kharge- Commerce, Shri Thambi Durai - HRD, Shri Harivansh - Agriculture Among those still to take oath; Shri Deve Gowda - Railways, Shri Tiruchi Siva - Transport and Tourism, Shri Dinesh Trivedi - Home Affairs Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe appointed as Chairman of the Committee on HRD Shri Ranjan Gogoi on Committee on External Affairs A day after administering the oath/affirmation to 45 of the 61 newly elected members of Rajya Sabha, Chairman Shri Venkaiah Naidu today nominated all the new members on different Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committees. With this, those who have made oath/affirmation on July 22 will get to participate in the meetings of respective committees. The remaining 16 new members would participate only after subscribing to oath/affirmation. In all, Shri Naidu has nominated 65 members on different committees including filling up of some vacancies by the sitting members. Shri Ramdas Athawale, being a Minister is not nominated on any committee. Dr. Vinay P. Sahasrabuddhe has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Human Resource Development further to the expiry of the membership of Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya. Most of us are aware that refugees are forced to leave their house because of issues like war, terror attacks, or other crises. But, leaving their houses and staying away from their homes is just the beginning of a tough and challenging journey. Many a time these refugees have to adjust in terrible weather conditions and sometimes also find themselves living in camps until they are shifted to another place. The theme of World Refugee Day this year is "every action counts." World Sickle Cell Awareness Day: June 19 World Sickle Cell Awareness Day is celebrated on June 19th of each year to raise the public awareness about the sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is a blood disorder that is inherited and passed down from parents to the child. In India, sickle cell disease is more common in south Gujarat, north Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and western Odisha with a smaller concentration in the southern regions in India. 19th Great June Uprising Day observed in Manipur The 19th Great June Uprising Day was observed in Imphal and other places of Manipur on 18 June. The day is observed every year on 18 June to pay tribute and respect to 18 persons who lost their lives in June, 2001 to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur. On the occasion, family members of the 18 martyrs and leaders of some organisations paid floral tribute & respect to 18 persons at Kekrupat, Manipur. -
