Leadership P21 Our Vision Donors The Education Advancement Foundation (EAF) sees the consistent P24 and ever-present gap in funding for STEM, music, the arts, youth enrichment and other critical development activities that are vital to supporting our youth and developing well-rounded individuals. We use our dollars to help college students to complete their education, as seed money for charitable endeavors and to support and expand community service projects. Through our mission, our vision is to perpetually reaffirm our commitment of the financial support of educational endeavors. 2 President’s Message While a 40th anniversary is a time for celebration, we are equally mindful of the challenges ahead. With social distancing the new normal at this time, it is clear the world of higher education may never be the same. Nonetheless, 2019 was a very positive year for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc.®, and our activities persevere in support of deserving students and organizations — even from today’s virtual world. One thing is clear: when uncertainty reigns in the world, education is the anecdote. Specifically, years higher education that builds critical thinking, communication skills, and robust STEM knowledge years among today’s young scholars — what AKA-EAF defines as excellence. -

Informational World Cities an Empirical Investigation of Cities in the 21St Century
Informational world cities An empirical investigation of cities in the 21st century Inaugural-Dissertation zur Erlangung des Doktorgrades der Philosophie (Dr. phil.) durch die Philosophische Fakultät der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf vorgelegt von Agnes Mainka Betreuer: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang G. Stock Prof. Dr. Isabella Peters Düsseldorf Januar 2017 Abstract The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate world cities that are in a network. The network is constituted by the flows of capital, power, and information. The key innovation is ICT and the acknowledgment of human capital as an important economic resource. The research approach combines urban studies, sociology, and information science. Thus, diverse hypotheses have emerged in recent years that are going to describe the knowledge, creative, digital, or smart city. In the work at hand, I will combine the approaches of diverse city types and different research fields into one investigation. According to twelve hypotheses, characteristics and best practice examples of informational world city’s development will be identified. The focus is to emphasize on real world examples. The dominating research method is grounded theory which allows to mix different approaches to gather data, e.g. interviews, field research, and statistics. In total, 31 cities are investigated regarding their digital and cognitive infrastructure, political willingness and cityness. The interviews and field studies have been conducted between June 2010 and May 2014. Literature and secondary data has been updated continuously. The focus of this empirical investigation of 31 informational world cities is to verify actual research approaches based on expert interviews. Do experts with different backgrounds and from different origins agree with general assumptions that explain the success and forecast further growth of cities in the 21st century? In general, cities in a globalized world become more similar. -

And there was no enough that next time viewers might just tune in reason for Cena to drag the match out. It didn’t fit If you follow an industry long enough, you’re for a just an hour instead of the usual two and the storyline. And it made John Cena look like a bound to see some bad decisions being made. certainly not commit to all three. The first shortcoming suggests a theoretical void: that although “a number of different disciplines take comedy as their subject matter, the opportunities afforded to the inter-disciplinary study of comedy are rarely, if ever, capitalized on.”1 The second indicates a methodological void: there is a “lack of literature on ‘how’ to analyse stand-up comedy.”2 This research project examines the relationship between political consciousness and satirical humour in stand-up comedy and attempts to redress these two shortcomings. -

Larry Hennig & Harley Race
Larry Hennig & Harley Race Larry "The Axe" Hennig (born June 18, 1936) is an American retired professional wrestler. He is the father of the late "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, the grandfather of Joe "Curtis Axel" Hennig, and is best known for his work in the American Wrestling Association, National Wrestling Alliance and World Wide Wrestling Federation. Hennig was also known for his muscular neck which, to this day, measures 22 inches. Harley Leland Race (born April 11, 1943)[2] is an American former professional wrestler, and current promoter and trainer. During his career as a wrestler, Race worked for all of the major wrestling promotions, including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), the American Wrestling Association (AWA), the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), and World Championship Wrestling(WCW). He held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship seven times, and was the first NWA United States Heavyweight Champion, which is now known as the WWE's United States Championship. Race is one of six men inducted into each of the WWE Hall of Fame, the NWA Hall of Fame, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame, and is considered by many past and present fans/wrestlers and promoters as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time. He is highly respected for his toughness and lifelong dedication to the business. After a serious auto accident where Race almost lost his leg and intense physical therapy, he returned to the ring in 1964, wrestling for the Funks' Amarillo, Texas, territory. This time, he wrestled under his own name, after his father told him that he should not work to make anyone else's name famous. -
Philosophers' Science Fiction / Speculative Fiction
Philosophers’ Science Fiction / Speculative Fiction Recommendations, Organized by Author / Director November 3, 2014 Eric Schwitzgebel In September and October, 2014, I gathered recommendations of “philosophically interesting” science fiction – or “speculative fiction” (SF), more broadly construed – from thirty-four professional philosophers and from two prominent SF authors with graduate training in philosophy. Each contributor recommended ten works of speculative fiction and wrote a brief “pitch” gesturing toward the interest of the work. Below is the list of recommendations, arranged to highlight the authors and film directors or TV shows who were most often recommended by the list contributors. I have divided the list into (A.) novels, short stories, and other printed media, vs (B.) movies, TV shows, and other non- printed media. Within each category, works are listed by author or director/show, in order of how many different contributors recommended that author or director, and then by chronological order of works for authors and directors/shows with multiple listed works. For works recommended more than once, I have included each contributor’s pitch on a separate line. The most recommended authors were: Recommended by 11 contributors: Ursula K. Le Guin Recommended by 8: Philip K. Dick Recommended by 7: Ted Chiang Greg Egan Recommended by 5: Isaac Asimov Robert A. Heinlein China Miéville Charles Stross Recommended by 4: Jorge Luis Borges Ray Bradbury P. D. James Neal Stephenson Recommended by 3: Edwin Abbott Douglas Adams Margaret
