University publications and .. theses presented for advanced degrees also are given. Independent but affiliated agencies, which publish their own bibliographies, are not repre­ sented.

A few items are included which were omitted from the preceding bibliography (1944-52).

Standard abbreviations are used throughout. Abbremations Used in the Department of Agriculture for Titles of Publications, edited by Carolyn Whitlock (Washington, D.C., 1939), was followed. The only unusual abbreviations are Par. Pac., used for the regional periodical Pttradise of the Pacific, and lRAC, used for the Industrial Research Advisory Council•
