Surya Prakash Goud, Faculty member (SED) visited Vijayawada, Kondapally, Pedana, Rajahmundry, Vizag and Vizianagaram during 1-4 July 2019 to facilitate implementing agencies, technical agencies and SPV members in implementation of SFURTI pro- gramme. On 1st July, he met the Project Director (DRDA), Mr. Krishna along with CDE and SPV members of Kondapally Wooden Toys cluster and discussed on transfer of MPLAD funds towards construction of CFC and procurement of machinery for cluster. He suggested CDE and SPV to prepare building drawings, machinery specifications and also coordinate with Asst Project Manager of DRDA for release of funds. The Project Director, DRDA assured to support in all respects On 2nd July 2019, Mr. Goud organized a meeting with SPV members of Pedana Kalamkari cluster regarding delay in imple- mentation of the project. The members present mentioned that they are facing challenges due to competition from imitated screen print- ed products from other states, pollution related issues because of usage of chemicals by some entrepreneurs/ artisans, poor response from the market and reduced orders etc. They wanted to establish CFC with power looms to produce required fabric for the cluster units as most of them are procuring fabric from Erode, Surat, Nagari. He had visited proposed site for CFC along with the SPV members. The members discussed various options for speedy implementation of the project. The SPV agreed to send revised proposal in a week days after consulting technical expert. On 3rd July 2019, Mr. Goud had visited regional office of Coir Board at Rajhmundry and discussed on proposed new coir projects with Mr. Ramachandra Rao, Regional Officer and coir entrepreneurs. The issues of Vizianagaram and Chittor coir clusters, preparation of DPR for Amalapuram and Kadiyapulanka Coir clusters etc were discussed in detail. He gave details of SFURTI scheme for some of the coir entrepreneurs. Later he has visited proposed CFC site of Jonnada Food Processing Cluster along with Mr. Rajababu, President of Implement- ing agency and interacted with the artisans

Salient Features of East Godavari District East Godavari District which is one of the largest and the most populous district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, was successively ruled by Mauryas, Sathavahanas, Vishnu Kundins, Eastern Chalukyas, Cholas, Kakatiyas, Musunuri Chieftains, Kondaveeti Reddy Kings, Gajapathis, Kutubshahis and then by the British. It was under the Raj. On April 15, 1925, East Godavari District was formed as per G.O.No.502. East Godavari is the richest district of the state, in terms of GDP. It is both the cultural and tourist hub of the state. East Godavari is a district in Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Its district headquarters is at Kakinada. As of Census 2011, it became the most populous district of the state. Rajahmundry and Kakinada are the two large cities in the Godavari districts in terms of population. The district of Rajahmundry (present name Rajamahendravaram) was reorganised in 1859 into two districts of Godavari and Krishna. Godavari District was further bifurcated into East and West Godavari districts in 1925. After Nov 1956, Andhra Pradesh was formed by combining parts of Naizam, Ceded and Circars. In 1959, the Bhadrachalam revenue division, consisting of Bhadrachalam and Naguru Taluqs (2 Taluqas in 1959 but later subdivided into Wajedu, Venkatapruram, Charla, Dummugudem, Bhadrachalam, Nellipaka, Chinturu, Kunavaram, and Vara Rama Chandra Puram mandals) of East Godavari district were merged into the Khammam district. After June 2014's reorganisation and division of Andhra Pradesh, the Mandals of Bhadrachalam (with the exception of Bhadrachalam Temple), Nellipaka, Chinturu, Kunavaram and Vara Rama Chandra Puram were re-added to East Godavari District.

Bhagavan Horticultural Research Station, Ambajipeta 533 214 Drysrhu, East Godavari district, A.P, India Corresponding author: [email protected] The coconut crop is mainly confined to the four southern states of India, accounting for 90% of the area under coconut, among which Andhra Pradesh shares about 1.15 lakhs ha area with a production of 1,377.53 m nuts. Recently, an invasive rugose spiraling whitefly (RSW), Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) has entered India and has been reported on coconut palm (Cocos nucifera L.) for the first time during August-September, 2016 at Pollachi taluk, Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu and Palakad taluk in Kerala (Sundararaj and Selvaraj, 2017). In Andhra Pradesh it was first reported at Kadiyam nurseries during December 2016 (Chalapathi Rao et al., 2020) probably entering Andhra Pradesh through infested coconut seedlings obtained from Kerala. The RSW was initially reported from Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States of America from gumbo limbo, Burera simaruba (L.) as a pest. However, it was originally described from Belize in 2004 on coconut (Martin, 2004) where its natural population was reported. As per the Department of Horticulture, Government of Andhra Pradesh statistics in February 2019 the coconut and oil palm plantations of East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh had a severe (more than 30 spirals/leaflet) incidence of this pest.

Dr. A.Sujatha, Dean of Student Affairs inaugurated the camp and highlighted the importance of blood donation in the presence of Dr.M.Rajasekhar, Associate Dean Dr.V.Sudha Vani and Dr.N.Emmanuel, NSS programme officers. Twenty five units of blood was donated by volunteers and teaching staff. Awareness programme on ‘Parthenium Management’ Awareness programme on parthenium weed was conducted on 16.01.2017 for staff and students of SKPP Horticultural Polytechnic, Ramachandrapuram who were involved in removal of parthenium in college premises.
