TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Associate Professor of Communication, Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio, 1983 -- 2003 Co-Director of broadcast program. Taught at least 15 different media and communication courses. Honored with Master Teacher of the Year (2001), Adviser of the Year (2003), and Honorary Alumnus Award (H ’04). Adviser to WOBN-FM, a large student-run radio station that earned the inaugural Board of Trustees “Organization of the Year” award (1992). Student and peer evaluations available upon request.

Continuing Studies Instructor/Adviser, Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio, 1986 -- 2003 Taught business/organizational communication courses. Developed new courses and made presentations in a variety of adult learning contexts. Advised students in Business/Organizational Communication, Business Administration, Public Relations, Speech Communication, Psychology and English. Served on Continuing Studies Advisory Committee. Founder and adviser of “Pinnacle”, the adult academic honorary.

Connection and Communications Pastor, Heritage Christian Church, Westerville, Ohio, 2003 – present Responsible for supervising five staff and 350 volunteers in assimilation, membership, volunteer ministry and communications departments. Developed and taught numerous short courses, seminars, staff and church trainings. Wrote and edited leadership manual on selected readings and topics in group ministry. Also traveled and taught in Honduras, Russia, Ethiopia.

Instructor, Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana, 1981 -- 1983 Taught radio production, performance and sports broadcasting classes. Advised WISU-FM news and sports department. Produced 30-minute weekly public affairs program examining issues in communication.

Westerville Cable Television Commission, Westerville, Ohio Board member, chair (five years) for city-council appointed board that helped advise council and oversee cable operations within the city jurisdiction. Analyzed cable needs, equipment requests, cable operator franchise applications and renewals. 1986 – 1998

WWVR-FM, West Terre Haute, Indiana Announcer; board shifts, simple production. April 1982 - August 1983.

Indiana State University/WTHI-FM, Terre Haute, Indiana Color Commentator, Back-up Play-by-Play Announcer for ISU football and basketball broadcasts. 50,000-watt FM station was "Official Voice of Indiana State University." September 1982 - March 1983.

United Press International, Bureau Terre Haute Stringer covered area sporting events on assignment. Also assisted State Sports Editor in writing/coverage of various events. 1980 -- 1984.

Terre Haute Star Newspaper, Terre Haute, Indiana Sportswriter duties included involvement in standard newsroom procedures (including use of VDT), as well as reporting high school and college sporting events on assignment. September 1981 - February 1982.

WBAK-TV (ABC Affiliate), Terre Haute, Indiana Sports Director/Account Executive duties included Sports Anchor for evening newscast, preparation and production of sports programming and all other responsibilities in the department. Assumed a general sales list of more than 60 accounts; serviced accounts, copy writing, production and commercials. November 1980 - August 1981.

WAAC-FM (CBS Affiliate), Terre Haute, Indiana Sports Director duties included producing and delivering 17 sports shows each week, producing and promoting sports programming at the station, hosting two call-in sports shows each week, communication with CBS Network. July - December 1980.

WAAC-FM (CBS Affiliate), Terre Haute, Indiana Account Executive duties included selling time, concurrently with sports responsibilities. Initially sold sports sponsorships and packages, then worked general sales account list. September - December 1980.

WISU-FM, Terre Haute, Indiana Operations Manager awarded Graduate Assistantship to oversee all operations of 11,000-watt university station. Duties included production/direction of studio programming. Also involved in community ascertainment research. Summer 1980.

WISU- FM, Terre Haute, Indiana Sports Director responsible for two hours of regular weekly programming, as well as Indiana State University football, basketball and baseball games. Play-by-play color, statistician, remote engineer, public address announcer. Produced, directed statewide Sycamore Sports Network for coverage of Missouri Valley Post- Season Basketball Tournament and ISU Baseball. Supervised 12-member staff. Granted 70% increase in regular programming during time as Sports Director. August 1979 - May 1979.

IAIA W Midwest Regional Basketball Tournament Producer/Play-by-Play Announcer set up Interstate Network for Women's College Basketball Tournament hosted by Indiana State University, March 1979.
