2 Preface Dear colleagues,

the European chapter of SPR welcomes you to Bolzano / Bozen, Italy, for the 7th European conference of our society!

We expect around 200 participants from all over Europe and other continents – the submitters and moderators alone represent 19 different countries. The scientific program includes 24 panels, 8 paper sessions and a poster session (with a total of 40 posters). Finally, 6 strucured discussion sessions covering fields ranging from longitudinal data analysis in psychotherapy research to training issues complete the program.

The meeting will start on Thursday evening at 18:00 with a plenary lecture by Vittorio Lingiardi of the Sapienza University of Rome: "The transcript-based assessment of therapeutic alliance ruptures and resolutions in psychotherapy". After his speech, the welcome reception will be held at the conference center, the medieval Castel Mareccio / Schloss Maretsch, a beautiful historic site located in the city of Bolzano. On Saturday evening, the meeting will end with a second plenary by Jacques Barber (University of Pennsylvania), international SPR's recent president. The banquet will be arranged on Friday in the inner court of the castle. If you are a European SPR member, please do not miss the Business Meeting of our chapter on Saturday noon.

On behalf of the local organizing committee and the program council we wish to thank all colleagues for their submissions and contributions to what we are sure will be a stimulating and successful conference.

Wolfgang Tschacher (program chair) Sandra Sassaroli (local host)
