YES BANK partners 'Sahakari-Parishad' of the State Federation Urban Co-operative Banks 27-January-2011 YES BANK partners 'Sahakari-Parishad' of the State Federation Urban Co-operative Banks Unveils Knowledge Report on Co-operative Banking in India Nashik, Jan 27, 2010: YES BANK, India’s new age private sector Bank partnered ‘Sahakari-Parishad’ - a Conference of the represented by Chairman and Directors of Maharashtra State Urban Co-operative Banks, that was held on January 22-23, 2011 in Nashik. The opening ceremony of the conference was graced by Hon’ble Shri Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Hon’ble Ms. Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament, Hon’ble Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister for State Tourism and Public Works Department, along with other dignitaries, and was attended by all Co-operative Banks of Maharashtra. Shri Prithvi Raj Chavan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, presided the closing ceremony along with Shri Balasaheb Thorat, Hon’ble Minister for Co-operative Department, Government of Maharashtra. As Knowledge Partners to the event, YES BANK authored a report titled ‘Co-operative Banks in India’ which was released by Hon’ble Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister for State Tourism and Public Works Department, Chief Guest for the conference. The report provides comprehensive insights into the current landscape of co-operative banking in India and Maharashtra, and discusses strategic initiatives that will equip them to face key critical challenges in the future. Mr. Ajay Desai, Chief Financial Inclusion Officer, YES BANK presented the concept of Frugal Innovations for Financial Inclusion, and discussed the possibility of collaborations with Urban Co-operative Banks, especially for the domestic remittance business, using a mobile platform. The two-day conference was attended by over 2500 delegates across various Cooperative Banks of Maharashtra and acted as a forum for exchange of ideas between banks, policy makers and clients. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hon’ble Shri Ajit Pawar stressed upon the need for directors of co-operative banks to create trust among people. YES BANK is cognizant of its responsibility to augment the sustainable development of an ‘Emerging India’, hence our commitment to percolating sustainability principles within the organization as well as in the broader context of the Indian financial community. Towards this end the Bank has crafted ‘Cooperative Banks’ as a distinct strategic relationship group, and aims to establish a symbiotic relationship with this section of the Indian Banking Industry, to fast-track the accomplishment of some key deliverables for India Inc..
