2016 West Virginia Mountaineers Senior Recap Contents This publication has been produced to provide information on the 22 Mountaineers who either completed their eligibility for West Virginia or entered the NFL draft early following the 2016 season. It contains updated information through the conclusion of the 2016 campaign. Mountaineer Senior Reviews ..............................................................................................3 Highlights, honors, superlatives and final statistics for the 22 Mountaineers who completed their careers in 2016. 2013 Season In Review ..................................................................................................42 Three words that come to mind when summing up the 2013 West Virginia football season were inexperience, inconsistency and injuries, and the Mountaineers had plenty of each, resulting in a 4-8 record and tying for seventh place in the second year of Big 12 competition. 2014 Season In Review ..................................................................................................50 West Virginia played the toughest schedule in school history during the 2014 season, facing fiveteams ranked in the Top 12 nationally. However, facing such a tough schedule still didn’t hinder WVU from showing improvement, as it finished with a 7-6 record, had a 5-4 mark in its third year in the Big 12 Conference, its highest conference finish and made an appearance in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. 2015 Season In Review ..................................................................................................59 One of the top accomplishments for the Mountaineer senior class in 2015 was to finish with the most wins (8) by a WVU football team since becoming a Big 12 Conference member. The WVU seniors also led the program to a bowl game for the third time during their careers and won the Cactus Bowl. WVU finished with an 8-5 record, tied for fifth in the Big 12 Conference and earned the 15th bowl win in the school’s history. 2016 Season In Review ..................................................................................................68 During the preseason, WVU was picked seventh in the Big 12 and even some said WVU wouldn’t be good enough to make a bowl. West Virginia used those predictions to its benefit and took a “fly under the radar” mentality, playing with a constant chip on its shoulder. Even though most of the country doubted the 2016 Mountaineer team’s ability to achieve success at the beginning of the season, no one doubted it by the end of the season.
