The most recent addition is the Clear Creek Crossing trail and pedestrian bridge. Completed in winter 2017, this project connects the trails of Jesse James Park on the north side of Clear Creek to Mack Porter Park on the south side. Jesse James Festival The Jesse James Festival, named after Kearney’s most infamous citizen, has been entertaining people and drawing crowds for five decades. There are events over two consecutive weekends, with the big weekend always being the third weekend in September. These events are held both in town and across the 130+ acre Jesse James Park. Some of the festival-goers’ favorite events include the parade, rodeo, arts & crafts booths, a 5k/10k race, carnival, a disc golf tournament, a dance with live music, the demolition derby, mud volleyball, and the kids fishing tournament.
