  • Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2020 Remarks at a White House Coronavirus Task Force Press Briefing March 31, 2020
Administration of Donald J. Trump, 2020 Remarks at a White House Coronavirus Task Force Press Briefing March 31, 2020 The President. Thank you very much, everyone. Our country is in the midst of a great national trial, unlike any we have ever faced before. You all see it. You see it probably better than most. We're at war with a deadly virus. Success in this fight will require the full, absolute measure of our collective strength, love, and devotion. Very important. Each of us has the power, through our own choices and actions, to save American lives and rescue the most vulnerable among us. That's why we really have to do what we all know is right. Every citizen is being called upon to make sacrifices. Every business is being asked to fulfill its patriotic duty. Every community is making fundamental changes to how we live, work, and interact each and every day. And I wouldn't be surprised to see this going on long into the future, when this virus is gone and defeated. Some of the things we're doing now will be very good practice for the future, including for not getting the flu, which is very devastating also. So some of what we're learning now will live on into the future—I really believe that: shaking hands or not shaking hands, washing hands all the time, staying a little apart. Fifteen days ago, we published our nationwide guidelines to slow the spread of the virus. On Sunday, I announced that this campaign will be extended until April 30.

Jared Kushner Reportedly Briefs Incoming National Security Adviser on Trump's Middle East Policy by Mary F. US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner was responsible for leading the “Peace to Prosperity” plan, an attempt by the Trump administration to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The plan, repeatedly refused by Palestinian leaders, was unveiled by the White House on January 28, 2020. Kushner has briefed incoming national security adviser Jake Sullivan on the Trump administration's policies in the Middle East, David Friedman, the US ambassador to Israel, confirmed Monday during a closed hearing in the Israeli parliament, Axios reported. According to Friedman, Kushner briefed Sullivan on the Abraham Accords process, through which the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain normalized diplomatic relations with Israel last year in negotiations mediated by the United States. Sudan and Morocco have agreed to similar deals with Israel. The Abraham Accords marked the first public normalization of relations between any Arab country and Israel since 1979 and 1994, when Egypt and Jordan, respectively, signed peace treaties with Israel. During the meeting, Trump advisers expressed hope that US President-elect Joe Biden will continue to encourage the normalization of relations with Israel by Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Axios reported.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Whole-of-America Response Wednesday, April 22, 2020 “WE REALLY NEED TO CONTINUE TO UNITE AND REALLY, REALLY SUPPORT OUR HEALTH-CARE PROVIDERS WHO ARE STILL ON THE FRONTLINE.” - DR. DEBORAH BIRX, WHITE HOUSE CORONAVIRUS ADVISOR Topline Briefing Points and Messages ▪ On April 16, President Trump released Guidelines for Opening America Up Again, providing a plan for rolling back social distancing measures and reopening the country’s economy in several phases, depending on location. Under the guidelines, states will need to meet six metrics that include demonstrating a downward trajectory of COVID-19 cases over a 14-day period and a robust system for testing health care workers before they can proceed to a phased opening. The federal government will continue to work with governors across the country to ensure they have the equipment, supplies and testing resources to reopen safely and responsibly. ▪ As of April 21, FEMA, HHS, and the private sector combined have coordinated the delivery of or are currently shipping: 56.9 million N95 respirators, 82.5 million surgical masks, 5.9 million face shields, 12.3 million surgical gowns, 643 million gloves, 10,998 ventilators and 8,450 federal medical station beds. FEMA continues to expedite movement of commercially pre-sourced and commercially procured critical supplies from the global market to medical distributors in various locations across the U.S. through Project Airbridge. ▪ The U.S. has now processed 4.4 million samples, which is more total tests than the following nations combined: Australia, Austria, Canada, France, India, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

March 31, 2020 The Honorable Pete Gaynor, Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) 500 C Street, SW Washington, D.C. 20472 Dear Administrator Gaynor: The United States has a primary health care system that serves as a principal lifeline of defense against COVID- 19: The Federally Qualified Community Health Center Program. Partially funded and regulated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Community Health Centers serve 30 million patients, and operate 13,000 urban and rural clinics across every state, territory, and D.C. As you know from your time in Rhode Island, in stable times, CHCs deliver primary care and other health services to underserved communities. In this capacity, they prevent hospitalization, emergency room visits, and other high-cost treatments. When emergencies strike -- hurricanes, floods, fires, hard-hit opioid areas -- CHCs step up, providing immediate care where it is needed most. In Puerto Rico, CHCs were essential to get health care services online in less than 24 hours after Hurricane Maria struck. In California, CHCs shifted patients to safe clinic locations during the fires over the last two years. Now, during the COVID-19 emergency, CHCs have established drive- through testing immediately after receiving testing kits and personal protection equipment in Alabama, Florida, and Washington State. They have increased telehealth services and transformed their operations to respond -- despite drastic drops in revenue from regular patient care. With more than 100,000 staff in their care teams and the ability to integrate other clinical volunteers, these trusted community stakeholders are strategically placed to help mitigate the growth of COVID-19.
