Dear Fellow Rotarians,

We just received an invitation to attend the 81st Foundation Day of the Rotary Club of Davao on October 26, 2019 at the Apo View Hotel at 6:00 pm. I will be attending and I’m inviting all of you who would like to attend and visit Davao. We will be staying for three days and I will host some of the events. Kindly let me know who would be interest- ed in coming.

Last week, we had a very interesting meeting. Madeleine Delp is an exceptional person. I was also very impressed with all the beautiful young ladies who gave a good account of their advo- cacies. I was very proud and in tears with the presentation of my granddaughter. She spoke fluently and vividly from the heart of all her works in the war torn city of Marawi. She was encour- aged by the work done by the Rotary Club of Manila which was led by Raffy Alunan. I’m impressed by all the work she has ac- complished as she continues to create more and more activities for the benefit of all the citizens of Marawi. Her work has been recognized and because of this, she has been honored with the title of Ambassador and Spokesperson of Save the Children.

The club has been requested by our beloved District Governor to host the annual TRF event. We need volunteers to help us succeed in this effort.

Today, we welcome the presence of His Excellency, the Ambas- sador of Spain, Jorge Moragas. We’re all very excited to listen to what he has to say. We also welcome our guests from the different Rotary clubs and from the Spanish community.

Best,

Jackie ATTENDANCE 29 28 PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITION AND CHILD CARE CLUB ADMINISTRATION 5

Upon consulting with all his local counterparts from other districts who received wheelchairs from PDG Bill Biddle’s efforts, PP Rayms determined that the cost of just bringing in a 40-foot high cube container of about 300 wheelchairs after duties and taxes even after it’s been paid for is a whooping P450,000. Discouraged, he had to tell PDG Bill that “it’s too much” for which he replied, “I’ve given to 8 out of the 10 districts in the Philippines and I will make this happen for 3810”.

PDG Bill Biddle and District 7670 raised $16,750 from among its gen- erous rotarians and Live Boundless Foundation fundraiser raised the other $16,500 which was matched by The Wheelchair Foundation grant who gave $21,000 for a total of $54,250.
