Joey was all smiles this time!

YOU will recall that trainer Joey Ramsden headed for the nearest rock after The Conglomerate had drawn wide for the 2016 Vodacom Durban July. This year Ramsden (left) drew a magic Number 3 for the same runner and stayed on for drinks with Gary Grant from the Equine Group and BSA. Gary drew pole position for Sean Tarry’s Al Sahem.

Premier Dance is one for the notebook

MASTER trainer Dennis Drier brought the lightly-raced Premier Dance (photo above), back from a 6-month lay-off into her first attempt over 2000m, and she won convincingly at Scottsville on Wednesday for jockey Sean Veale.

―When you've got horses of this calibre, you can do it,‖ said the modest Drier. ―I told Mr (Mike) Rattray (owner), that she would win if she stayed and she did. This opens up her career, we have more possibilities for her now.‖

Bred by Lammerskraal, Premier Dance is a daughter of Silvano and Akin Feet, closely related to Capetown Noir and Across The Ice. ―She has a lot of class,‖ commented Veale. - tt.
