In an emo- tional tribute, Mayor Ralph Suozzi took a moment to pay his condolences to Pe- done’s parents, Josephine and Nicholas Sr., while presenting a plaque in recogni- tion of their son’s official day. “I never knew how great of a com- munity we had until 8 years ago,” states Josephine Pedone, in recognition and gratitude of the immense support, love, and kindness the citizens of Glen Cove have shown toward Nicholas in his life- time. In his memory, discussions of a garden and bench at Stanco Park are in place, as well as making the 5k run which took place last year to be now an annual event. The Pedones have also stated they will be in the works of placing two col- lege scholarships at the Glen Cove High School, as they feel it is important to pay it forward. A few scattered showers could not dampen the spirit of the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club’s 2nd Annual Family Fun For Gazette Day at Bayville Adventure Park. Fami- lies arrived in droves on Wednesday, advertising information July 10 just as the sun broke through the clouds, making it a delightfully sunny call afternoon to enjoy the many attractions at the Park. Kids of all ages participated in the 671-2360 Pirate Adventure Miniature Golf, the Brittany Bay Jungle Tree Top Ropes Course, Bumper Boat Safari, Bungee Bounce Dome, Wild Water Balloon Wars, the Lost Temple Forgotten Maze, Mystery Funhouse, Rock Climbing and Adventure Express Train, only taking breaks to enjoy a slice of pizza or munch on popcorn. More than 150 kids partici- pated in the fundraising event with all net proceeds going towards Club programs to benefit the children of the Glen Cove community. “We’re so grateful to event commit- tee Wendy Fentress, Christina Collins, Aimee Eberle, Alex Gulden, Michelle Ort and Julie Zarou for all their hard work in promoting the event and bring- ing their friends and family to this spe- cial fundraising effort.
