PRESIDENT N E W S L E T T E R SEAN MACGREGOR W (08) 8379 4149 - M 0407 188 078 6 February 2014 Edition No. 3 [email protected] SECRETARY With 3 rounds to go, both OSCA A & B Grades are in the top four despite NICK BLIGHT last weekend’s Heat Policy cancellation probably costing both sides a M 0412 886 832 [email protected] win. O.S.C.A. 18 WOOLTANA AVE, MYRTLE BANK The A Grade are second on the ladder after rolling the previously SOUTH AUSTRALIA 5064 www.scotchoc.com.au undefeated Ingle Farm in Round 5. Despite only making 171, Tom Bourne, Jared Schmidt & Chris Rogers took the top side apart with some fine MAJOR SPONSORS bowling. Only during a 39 run 10th p/ship did OSCA look in any trouble. A solid batting display on a slow outfield at Brahma Lodge put the A’s in a good position before the heat Policy cancellation. The only hiccup this season was a loss to Para Hills where 6 dropped catches after having the home side 5/50 proved costly. Tony Scott & Dennis Cester have been in fine form with the bat, but it has been the contributions from the whole team that has been most pleasing thus far. Jared Schmidt (15 at 8.5!), with Bourne, the Rogers Brothers & Nathan Fox form a formidable pace attack that will trouble most sides. Fox who would be in the top handful of players in A2 this season unluckily O.S.C.A. LIONS broke his forearm at training last week. With some luck we hope Nathan is ADELAIDE MOTORS BMW back in 2-3 weeks to launch the A’s into the finals. ANDREW TYSON BOB & MARGIE COTTLE CHRISTINE HEARD The B’s form has dropped away over the festive season. A poor game at CLARIDGE HOLDEN Concordia might prove costly, but despite the hiccup the B’s still sit in the EMMETT PROPERTY top four. 3 must win games starting with Brahma Lodge this round would FERRIER HODGSON see OSCA make finals. Harry White has been a standout in the last few GEOFF HEARD rounds averaging 150!, while Quinn Turipa & Nick Blight have both bowled GEOFF WEAVER well. With an improved batting & fielding effort the B’s can certainly beat IAN THOMAS JAMIE CODLING the best sides in B3. JEFF SCHMIDT JIM HORWOOD The C grade continue to ‘rotate’ numerous players from week to week JOFF ALLEN but a great victory over ladder leader Grange two weeks ago helped lift JULIE ANNE spirits. Peter Harvey almost claimed a hatrick that included D & A.Jarmen MARK KIDMAN before Al Hickinbotham belted OSCA home. Al’s form over the past MATZ FAMILY month has been outstanding & is great to see him really enjoying his MURRAY TIPPETT NICK EMMETT cricket. Veteran’s Adam Niederer & David Kidman continue to make runs O’LOUGHLINS LAWYERS with Parso again leading the bowling. Jules Faraks has also been in good ORD MINNETT LIMITED all round form. Great to see some OSCA veteran’s helping out with PAUL TIPPETT numbers including Paul Tippett, Geoff Weaver & Adrian Ralph. Let’s not PETER CROSSING forget that LOA has 5 ‘A’ grade teams & 2 District sides in the 12 teams so PETER FEENEY it is a very tough competition. PETER TRUMBLE RICK GOODE ROB BRICE Competition RON THOMAS OSCA bowed out in the group stage following a narrow loss to Reynella SANDY NELSON TEAMWEAR when defending 141 in difficult (wet) bowling conditions early December. SEAN MACGREGOR OSCA again played some good cricket in a very stong group. Let’s STEPHEN MANN concentrate on a couple of 2 day premierships this season! Both will be valuable additions for the business end of the season.  Did Chris Landau deliberately drop Darren Jarmen on a hat trick, just because he won the 1997 flag for Adelaide!  Kenno is heading back to fielding practice after dropping 7 catches in a recent B3 game!  Great to see Tom Young (Century), Sam Darling & Stuart Claring-Bould all doing well at district level. We just need Adelaide Uni to smarten up & promote Tom MacKenzie & Brendan Hiscock up the grades!
