Little Star is an annual magazine of poetry and prose founded in 2009 by Ann Kjellberg (literary executor of and long-time editor at The New York Review of Books) and poet Melissa Green (The Squanicook Eclogues, Color is the Suffering of Light).

Little Star seeks tenderly to usher bookish traditions into the electronic age. With a nod to the aesthetics of letterpress and print, we endeavor with our print issues, on our web site, in our social media, and with PDF issues for tablet readers, to serve real literary experiences tailored to electronic opportunities.

Just now we are developing a new app, Little Star Weekly, with innovative app shop 29th Street Publishing, first issues due momentarily.

In other news: April Bernard’s recent Little Star story “The Fixed Idea” will be an Electric Literature “Recommended Reading” selection in December; Jamaica Kincaid will read at a Little Star launch at McNally Jackson Books in February; we will shortly post a Little Star Bookstore, to refer our readers to new books connected to work featured in Little Star, shipped via independent booksellers.

Works from Little Star have been excerpted in Harper’s (Padgett Powell), earned the Pushcart Prize (Lydia Davis), been linked to The Browser, The New Republic’s The Book, and Arts & Letters Daily. Little Star was featured among ten new literary magazines to watch by The New York Times’s T Magazine. It has been a staff pick of The Review Daily and New York Review Books’s Typepad. Kjellberg and Little Star have been featured on The Leonard Lopate Show on WNYC radio. For more press see littlestarjournal.com/about.
