Dear Fellow Members,

It gives me immense pleasure in announcing before you all, MIDC Industries Association Hingna’s very own magazine - ‘MIA Connect’. Through this new series, we aim to propagate the activities, news, events and latest happenings, updates to our esteemed members. I’m sure that you all will enjoy the content of the magazine and I’m sure that this will help further enhance our connection with all the concerned stakeholders, members and readers.

MIA has been actively working for the benefit of industries of MIDC Hingna for last many years. Seminars, expert lectures on various topics like GST, PF, ESIC, e-way bill, Entrepreneurship Development and other industry related topics are conducted throughout the year for our members. Major issues like CETP, Gram Panchayat Tax, Parking, Power, Pollution, Security, Skilled Manpower, MIDC related issues are time and again taken up for discussion and resolution with concerned officials. I’m happy to share that for resolution of these issues, steps are being taken in the right direction. MIA’s focus has been to build a strong industry- institute linkage and we are actively working on this aspect.

I also want to convey to you all that MIA has associated with GIZ, an Indo-German collaboration. GIZ has presence all over and the activities done with them are showcased through their mediums - Pan India. We have done programs for foundries, electronics industries, women entrepreneurs and also have an Innovation Facilitation Cell at MIA in collaboration with GIZ . We aim to carry forward this fruitful partnership by arranging need-market-based programs for industries and entrepreneurs; and also conducting various skilling and up-skilling programs for people as per needs of the industries.

As per today’s need and to establish a mutual connect with our members, we have made our debut on Social Media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Through these mediums, our members can seamlessly interact with us. We invite you all to be a part of this ecosystem; where in each of your suggestion will be valuable to us. We aim to carry forward the legacy of MIA and also give the best of the services!

Let us pledge to work towards an inclusive society, where no one is left behind!

Greetings to all,

I’m very happy to share with you all, the much awaited magazine of MIA – ‘MIA Connect’, which as the name suggests will certainly establish a connect with all the members. MIA Connect has all the activities and events conducted under MIA along with opinions, write-ups by our esteemed members and experts. We have done quite a few programs on GST, Entrepreneurship, Schemes and Subsidies, ESIC and other topics as and when required by the industries. In association with GIZ, we have done programs for electronics industry, foundries and women entrepreneurs; with active support from Mr. Sarabjot Saini and Dr. Ravindra Aher of GIZ team.

MIA’s focus has also been to develop an industry-ready skilled manpower and simultaneously promote apprenticeship by actively engaging various stakeholders. We have initiated the process to develop a dedicated skill development training centre and formation of Industry Cluster with active support from our fellow industry members.

We at MIA over the years have assisted industries in the best possible way and will continue to strive for its betterment. We look forward to valuable inputs or suggestions for improvement from our members. I’m sure that the efforts put in by the team of ‘MIA Connect’ will make it an enjoyable read.

I’m happy to bring before you all MIA’s magazine - ‘MIA Connect’. Team of MIA and GIZ have taken great efforts to bring out this magazine which features opinions and write-ups of industry people, expert talks, industry related news, interview with an industrialist and many interesting columns. In this first feature, we bring to you articles on programs conducted for foundries, electronics industries, International Women’s day program and much more.

With the technological advancement going on at a rapid pace across all sectors and Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Digital presence making fast inroads, the industries must be ready and have to integrate the modern technologies for their benefit. It has been a constant endeavor at MIA to bring before industries; programs, schemes and information as per the changing demand and needs. MIDC Industries Association Hingna is one of the oldest industrial associations of . It was formed to promote and develop fellowship among the industries in MIDC Hingna Industrial Area in Nagpur. The prime objective is to use the association as a force to discuss and help each member unit in solving its problems. MIA also provides a platform for exchange of ideas and opinions and makes available information of interest to members regularly. MIA acts as a bridge between various government agencies, concerned stakeholders and industries of MIDC Hingna., concerned stakeholders and industries of MIDC Hingna.

Nagpur is one of the centers in which MSME INNO project is functioning. The MSME INNO has collaborated with MIA Hingna, academic institutions like VNIT, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management, KDK College of Engineering and Cummins College of Engineering for Women and few other government agencies in the region to foster cooperation between industry, academia and government and thereby strengthen the innovation capacity and sustainability of MSMEs.

The Innovation Facilitation Cell (IFC) is established and integrated within the functioning of the BMO and stated organizing innovation promotion programs/events on a regular basis and for creating & nurturing linkages with critical stakeholders that influence innovation ecosystem for its member MSMEs in Nagpur Cluster.

The specific objectives of MIA-GIZ IFC are: Create Innovation eco-system through Industry-Academia Collaboration. Academic and Research Institute engagement on live MSME Pain Areas. MSME Technology upgradation through expert engagements. Promoting Nagpur MSMEs through National/International Collaboration. Workshops/Seminars on latest technologies for MSMEs. Capacity building initiatives for MSMEs, Academia, and Incubators.

MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna has been authorized by Director General of Foreign Trade working under Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India to issue ‘Certificate of Origin’ (Non- preferential) to exporters.

First set of such ‘Certificate of Origin’ were issued to M/s Duraweld Metsys Pvt. Ltd. through its Director Nikhil Patwardhan for supply of DW-STD alloy weld cast plates to Kuwait and M/s Gangotri Hitech Coatings through its Director Dr. L.T. Gangotri for supply of fire-I paint and G-tech thinners to Qatar at the hands of Capt. C.M. Randhir, the then President of MIA Hingna.

A grand event was organized to issue ‘Certificate of Origin’ and felicitate exporters on the occasion. Chandrashekhar Shegaonkar, the then Secretary of MIA Hingna introduced products of both the companies, highlighting their contribution in the field of exports from the region. MIA Hingna Executive Committee members were present on the occasion.

MIA Hingna appeals exporters to use this facility available next door in MIDC Hingna. C.G. Shegaonkar while speaking on the occasion clarified that exporters have to submit the following documents in triplicate for issuance of Certificate of Origin namely Export invoice, Packing list, Purchase order and copy of Import Export certificate.

MIA Hingna & GIZ, in Association with Institute of Indian Foundry men (IIF Nagpur Chapter) had organized a two days’ workshop on ‘Best Practices in Foundry Technology’ on 19th & 20th September 2019 at MIA House, MIDC Hingna, Nagpur.

Mr. B.S. Govind, a renowned consultant from Bangalore was the expert faculty invited by MIA Hingna, GIZ in association with IIF Nagpur Chapter on this occasion. On 19th and 20th September, site visits were arranged for Mr. B.S. Govind and units benefitted by his visit were Jayaswal Neco Industries Ltd., Deepshikha Castings Pvt. Ltd. and Truform Techno Products Ltd. These units were extremely satisfied with on the spot resolution of their problems and requested GIZ for follow up visits of Mr. Govind in near future as well. Mr. Govind had spent over four hours at individual units. An interactive session took place on 20th September, 2019 at 3:30 PM at the Conference Hall of MIA. Foundry members attended the event in large numbers. Dr. Ravindra Aher of GIZ welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. Mr. P.M. Parlewar (Director MSME-DI Nagpur) graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Mr. B. S. Govind (Expert Faculty-Foundry), Mr. Sarabjit Singh Saini- GIZ Technical Expert and Mr. R.G. Paranjpe (Chairman IIF Nagpur Chapter) were welcomed by MIA Hingna President – Mr. C. G. Shegaonkar. Mr. Govind during his Gap Analysis on the subject mentioned that, Foundry / Foundries work environment must be clean and damage or pollution of environment be avoided at any cost. He also touched upon the topics of reclamation / reuse of foundry sand to avoid damage to work environment.

Dignitaries of CGST (Audit Commissionerate), Vice President of MIA Hingna – Shri S.M. Patwardhan and Hon. Secretary of MIA Hingna – Shri Sachin Jain during the Sabka Vishwas (Legacy Dispute Resolution) Scheme, 2019 program organized at MIA House.

An awareness program on SABKA VISHWASH SCHEME, 2019 floated by the CGST department to settle any old outstanding/ litigation/ payment issues regarding Excise / Service Tax during pre- GST regime was organized with the Joint commissioner, CGST (Audit Commissionerate) at MIA House on 4th October, 2019. The officials presents were Mr. Vybhav Dhar (Joint Commissioner-Audit), Mr. C.P.S. Sudhakar Unni (Asst. Commissioner), Mr. A.K. Goswamy (Asst. Commissioner), Mr. S.M. Patwardhan (Vice President-MIA Hingna), Mr. Sachin Jain (Hon. Secretary-MIA Hingna). Shri. Vybhav Dhar, during his presentation enlightened the objective of the SABKA VISHWASH SCHEME. It is a onetime scheme for liquidation of past disputes of Central Excise and Service Tax and to provide an opportunity of voluntary disclosures to non-complaint tax payers.

He cited the Benefits under the above mentioned Scheme and cleared the doubts about the pending cases. As per the scheme, cases pending in adjudication or appeal, a assess can has a relief of 70% from the duty demand if it is Rs. fifty lakh or less and 50% if it is more than Rs. fifty lakhs. This is applicable for the cases under investigation and audit where the duty involved is quantified on or before 30th June, 2019. The biggest advantage of the scheme is total waiver from Interest and Penalty and Immunity from prosecution. In case of an amount in arrears, the relief offered is 60% of the confirmed duty amount if the same is Rs. fifty lakhs or less and it is 40% in other cases. In cases of voluntary disclosure, the declarant will have to pay full amount of disclosed duty. He further explained the members, the cases which are not covered under the scheme are cases in respect of excisable goods set forth in the Fourth Schedule to the Central Excise Act, 1944 (this includes tobacco and specified petroleum products) or cases for which the taxpayer has been convicted under the Central Excise Act, 1944 or the Finance Act, 1944 and cases involving erroneous refunds and Cases pending before the Settlement Commission.

Executive Committee members of MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna at the ‘Diwali Milan 2019’ function

MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna celebrated its ‘Diwali Milan’ program at Maharaj Bagh Club, Nagpur on 13th November 2019. This is an event for which its members eagerly await. Large number of members along with their spouses & family attend this festive programme, greet each other and meet dignitaries and officials of various government departments. Around 300 guests attended the programme. All guests were welcomed by MIA Hingna President - Mr. C.G. Shegaonkar, Hon. Secretary - Mr. Sachin Jain and the entire Executive Committee of MIA Hingna.

Ladies arranged for the entertaining games, Lucky Draw and Housie which is a star attraction for all members. The relishing of delicious dishes in a pleasant open atmosphere was enjoyed by one and all. Prominent Dignitaries present were Lt. Gen. Ravindra Thodge, Shri Krishnaji Khopde – MLA (East Nagpur), Shri Ramesh Bang - Ex. An awareness programme on ‘Package Scheme of Incentives 2019’ was organized by MIA Hingna in association with DIC at MIA House, MIDC Hingna, Nagpur. Mr. Gajendra Bharti (General Manager, DIC) during his presentation enlightened the objective of the ‘Package Scheme of Incentives 2019’. In order to encourage the dispersal of industries to the less developed areas the giving a Package of Incentives in Maharashtra to New / Expansion units to set up in the developing region of the state since 1964 under a scheme popularly known as Package Scheme of Incentives. State Government has been

The Maharashtra state government has reinstated new industrial policy in 2019 with the aim of not only achieving dispersal of industries to the less developed areas of the state but also to generate employment in such zones and attracting more investments in the state.

The objective of the State Government is to provide global competitive edge to the industries in the state for accelerated industrial growth & sustainable development. To create additional employment opportunities to local persons and Emphasis on balanced regional development. The new PSI scheme is said to be valid from 1st April 2019 up to 31st March 2024. The incentives are in the form of exemptions or refunds from taxes, reduction in stamp duty, electricity duty related reliefs, interest subsidies etc. Mr. Bharti stated that the following categories of eligible industrial units in Private Sector, Cooperative Sector, and State Public Sector/Joint Sector shall be eligible for incentives. Industries listed in the First Schedule of the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951, as amended from time to time. Manufacturing Enterprises as defined in the MSMED Act, 2006 Information Technology (IT) & Bio Technology (BT) Manufacturing Units

Mechanized Food / Agro Processing Industries in following sectors: Dairy, Fruit and Vegetable Processing. Grain Processing. Fish/Meat/Poultry Processing. Consumer foods including Packed foods. Non alcoholic beverages from fruits and vegetables.

Units which are not eligible under the PSI Scheme 2019: Beer, liquor manufacturing industries Cigarette, beedi or any other tobacco containing products manufacturing industries Gutka and pan masala manufacturing industries Any other product(s) banned by Central/State Government.

Mr. Bharti also explained the Category of the MSME units and their investment in plant & machinery:- Micro – Investment upto Rs. 25 Lakhs Small - Investment between Rs. 25 Lakhs to 5 Crores Medium – Investment between Rs. 5 Crores to Rs. 10 Crores

New MSME units & Small Industries will be eligible for a Basket of Incentives. The total quantum of incentives will be linked up to the percentage of actual eligible Fixed Capital Investment as per Taluka/Area classification. For the Industries in Vidarbha, Maximum Ceiling of basket of incentives as percentage of FCI is 80% and Eligibility Period is 10 Years, he added.

MIA Hingna in association with SIDBI had organized an awareness program on SIDBI Schemes & Subsidy matters [CLCSS, ATUFS etc.] on 12th December 2019 at MIA House, MIDC Hingna. The officials presents were Shri D Prasad Rao (Branch Incharge – SIDBI) and Smt. Saukhyada Salunkhe (Assistant Manager – SIDBI). Shri D Prasad Rao enlightened about the history of the SIDBI. He stated that “It acts as the Principal Financial Institution for Promotion, Financing and Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector as well as for co-ordination of functions of institutions engaged in similar activities.” Mr. Prasad Rao during the presentation clarified the initiatives taken by SIDBI to bridge the Non-financial gaps by promoting development activities for MSME related exhibition, trade fairs/buyers-sellers, meets/seminars etc. for Micro Enterprise Promotion Programme, Training and Skill Up-gradation Programme, Entrepreneurship Development Programme.

SIDBI also offers make in India Soft loan Fund for new or existing MSME’s, the MSME covers under this are Automobiles, Automobile Components, Aviation, Bio-Technology, Chemicals, Constructions, IT & BPM, Electrical Machinery, Defense Manufacturing, Electronics, Food Processing, Leather, Mining, Media & Entertainment, Oil & Gas, Pharma, Railway, Ports & Shipping, Renewable Energy, Roads, Space, Thermal Power, Textiles & Garments, Tourism & Hospitality, Wellness. The amount for the Soft Loan can be vary from 10% of the project cost subject to maximum Rs.20 lakh to 15% of the project cost subject to maximum Rs.30 lakh for enterprises promoted by SC / ST / Persons with disability / Women (controlling stake of at least 51%).

MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna celebrated its 34th Foundation Day on 4th Feb 2020, at MIA House, Hingna, Nagpur. Continuing its legacy of celebrating this day every year, this year the program was graced by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur as Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour was Shri Rajesh Zanzad Chief Engineer, MIDC, Nagpur. The function was held under the guidance of the President of MIA Hingna- Shri C.G. Shegaonkar and presided over by the Hon. Secretary of MIA Hingna - Shri Sachin Jain. All dignitaries were felicitated by giving shawl, shrifal, bouquet of flowers and a memento.

The Master of Ceremony was Shri S.M. Patwardhan and Shri Arun Lanjewar. In his welcome speech, President briefed about the history of MIA, its facilities and achievements to the guests. The President welcomed Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and briefed him about the various difficulties being faced by the industry and requested him to use his good office to resolve various issues, such as creating an alternate drinking water source for MIDC, sewage line for the industrial area, skill development centre for the benefit of the industry, parallel road to decongest Hingna Road, garbage lying in MIDC, CETP to be setup, plots available in MIDC Hingna industrial area to be allotted to existing industries for expansion, Gram Panchayat Tax, minimum 20 bedded ESIC Hospital should be made available in MIDC Hingna, decentralization of power, Exit policy for MSMEs by way of single clearance window.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar in his address assured the industrialists that he will look into the issues faced by the industries of MIDC Hingna and take it forward at the earliest. In his address Dr. Sanjeev Kumar motivated the industrial fraternity by praising them as tax payers, job creators & also wealth creators.

Guest of Honour, Mr. Rajesh Zanzad, Chief Engineer MIDC, spoke on the role of MIDC & the facilities provided by them in Industrial Estate in Maharashtra. He praised the available infrastructure of MIA & opined it to be best in Maharashtra. He also assured to take up issues at suitable platforms.

Past Presidents of MIA namely Mr. S.K. Mitra, Mr. Ramlingam, Mr. Mayank Shukla & Capt. C.M. Randhir (Retd.) were facilitated for their contribution in building strong MIA.

On Foundation Day, MIA Hingna recognizes success of few out-standing industrialists by honouring them with the “Entrepreneurial Excellence Award”. This year the awards were bestowed upon Shri. MIA Hingna, GIZ in association with Electronics Association Nagpur and MSME-DI Nagpur had organized a two days’ workshop on ‘Impact of Certification and Standards on Product Design and Quality’ in the field of Electronics on 18th & 19th February 2020 at MIA House, MIDC Hingna, Nagpur. Nagpur’s Electronics Sector Companies is aiming high through Standardization amongst all the sectors of Industries in Nagpur. IT and Electronics, offers the best opportunity for small scale companies under MSME. Electronics industry is the most technology and market sensitive sector. This has made MSME Entrepreneurship very challenging with constant change due to demand and technology improvements. The Electronics Association Nagpur is emerging as an active forum helping each other in resource sharing, knowledge exchange. They are also collaborating with each other to take benefit of each other’s strength and entering in new markets with more applications and more business.

To facilitate this upgrade in Electronics industries in Nagpur, first and most critical step is to make local products compliant with National and International standards. This will help them to compete with national and international players and create gateway to world market.

In view of this, the Association organized two days workshop on 18th and 19th February 2020 on “Impact of Certification and Standards on Product Design and Quality” with support from GIZ and MIA Hingna under MSME INNO Project of GIZ and Ministry of MSME, New Delhi.

For this purpose, experts were invited from internationally acclaimed certification agencies. Mr. Ashish Mathur, from UL, India which is the Indian arm of US based Global UL agency had visited local industries along with Mr. Ajit Karandikar from Karandikar Labs on 18th Feb.

On 19th Feb, Mr. Mathur and Mr. Karandikar guided the Entrepreneurs and Engineers of Electronics Industries on various aspects of standards and certification requirements. They also gave very good insights of applicable standards and certification procedures with respect to product and its application.

MIA Hingna, GIZ India with active support from MSME-DI Nagpur had organized a workshop titled ‘Effective Role of Women Entrepreneur in changing times’ on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ on 8th March 2020 at MSME-DI office, Nagpur.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an exclusive program titled "Effective Role of Women Entrepreneur in changing times” was held for Women Entrepreneurs of Nagpur on Sunday 8th March 2020 at MSME-DI office, Nagpur. This program was jointly organized by MSME-DI, GIZ India and MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna. The program was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. P.M. Parlewar, Director, MSME- DI, Nagpur.

The chief guest for the function was Dr. Priti Manmode, a renowned Ayurvedic Doctor of Nagpur and known for mentoring many women entrepreneurs of Nagpur. Expert Speaker for the occasion was Mrs. Ketki Arbat – A woman with many hats, few of which includes - Director of KRIMS Hospital, Founder of NGO PRAWAH, MANCH- Performing art platform and SELF-IE, Secretary of Gram Vikas Sanstha and a self-development trainer. Dr. Ravindra Aher, GIZ Consultant - Nagpur, Mr. Sachin Jain, Secretary of MIA Hingna, were the other dignitaries present on the dais.

Mr. Parlewar in his welcome address emphasized on the role of women in building economy. He further elaborated that MSME has special schemes for women entrepreneurs and in brief explained the schemes for their knowledge and awareness.

Dr. Preeti Manmode in her motivating address on this occasion, said that this is the right time that women should come forward in entrepreneurship because women have good managerial skills, they are stronger than men and have greater risk taking ability. All these qualities are needed to become a successful entrepreneur.

Mr. Sachin Jain secretary of MIDC Industries Association (MIA) also stressed the need of financial independence by further bringing in the required interventions in technology and management. He also on behalf of MIA assured full support in the empowerment of women entrepreneurs by arranging exclusive visits to industries in the MIDC Hingna area for knowledge gaining and identifying the needs of these industries for exploring new areas of opportunities.

Dr. Ravindra Aher also spoke and explained the MSME INNO Project about the role of GIZ in entrepreneurship development and building eco system under this project. In response to their request for focused value driven workshops, he proposed to identifying their training needs and suitably conducting these half a day programs on management development with the support of MSME DI & MIA, in the times to come.

Ms. Ketki Arbat motivated the women participants through her power point presentation. She said that women should be ready and prepared for hard work as there is no shortcut to success. She said in the field of entrepreneurship more emphasis should be given on quality of the product.

Apart from these in depth session on skills and qualities, it was also decided to have focused workshops in times to come for upgrading 21st century skill sets for these women entrepreneurs.
