How we would long for Suzanne Owens P.T. Williams Joy, Peace, Love, and Hope to reign in their lives. But the Spirit of Christmas isn’t really about interna- tional or national politics. It isn’t even about state or regional issues. The Spirit of Christmas calls out to individuals, to you and to me. It doesn’t ask us to look at the “big picture,” rather it begs us to look only at ourselves. It doesn’t ask us to analyze anything outside our own hearts. The Spirit of Christmas is indeed the Spirit of Our Lord Himself. It urges us to treat those closest to us the way the Lord Himself would treat them: our family, our friends, our Worship Services neighbors, our brothers and sisters in the Church. It also urges us to treat those whom we do not like as the Lord Himself 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. might treat them—to encounter them with kindness and com- passion; to speak of them with grace and mercy. Sunday School The Spirit of Christmas, indeed the Spirit of Christ, says 9:45 a.m. to you and to me: give up bitterness; embrace Joy. Let go of resentment; take hold of Peace. Send away anger; call upon Pastors’ Forum Love. Cease hostility and malice; live as one who is filled with Hope.
