After that, pre-orders are over & you take your chances that you may or may not be able to purchase one from our limited supply at the end of the year. We are here to assist you! GForce (a group of college students trained to help high school students with post-high school plans) representatives come to the BNHS Counseling Office Go Center on Thursdays from 11- 1 PM. GForce returns to BNHS today, 1/23/2020! SENIORS, TURN IN SCHOLARSHIP DOCUMENTATION TO THE COUNSELING OFFICE Seniors, please submit all scholarship offers that you have received to Mrs. Harrell in the Counseling Office. This includes scholarships that you may have received, but are choosing not to accept. The deadline for submitting scholarship offers is Friday, 4/3/2020 at 4:30 PM. SCHOLARSHIP INFO. & APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE IN BNHS COUNSELING OFFICE *Texas Student Housing Scholarship open to students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton, Texas who have NOT signed an off-campus housing lease. Applications and documents due to the mailing address located on last page of application by 1/31/2020. *BNHS PTSA 2020 Senior Scholarship - Must be a member of PTSA by January 30, 2020. All documents & application must be in a sealed envelope “BNHS PTSA Scholarship” on front. Must be submitted to the BNHS Counseling Office by 4:00pm on 2/28/20. *Sendera Ranch Elementary School PTA is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior from the Class of 2020. The applicant must have completed the 5th grade at Sendera Ranch Elementary. Completed applications must be submitted to Sendera Ranch Elementary School front office by 3pm on 2/28/2020. *The Fort Worth Scottish Rite Foundation 2020 Scholarship application is also available in the BNHS Counseling Office. Scottish Rite will award (50) $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors who exhibit scholastic, extracurricular, and community service qualities. 5 of the 50 scholarships will be awarded to seniors planning to attend community colleges (i.e. TCC or NCTC). Completed applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the Scottish Rite office no later than 2/28/20. *Ford Driving Dreams scholarship application is for BNHS seniors from the Class of 2020. Applicants must have been accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the Fall of 2020. Stop by the BNHS Counseling Office to pick up application information. Two BNHS seniors who complete the application in entirety & meet the criteria will each be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Deadline for this application is 2/3/2020. *Northwest ISD Education Foundation Scholarships – The application is open to all eligible seniors in the Northwest ISD who enroll in an accredited college/university, military academies or trade school in the summer or fall of 2020. Multiple scholarships will be awarded to numerous NISD graduating seniors through this one application. Stop by the BNHS Counseling Office if you have questions. Applications are due no later than midnight on Wednesday, 3/4/2020. *Tri-County Electric Cooperative - Must be a current senior in high school. Reside in a home powered by Tri-County Electric. Email, hand deliver, or postmarked in mail the completed scholarship packet by 5 PM on Friday, 3/6/2020. *Gerald Kendrick Memorial Scholarship including application, transcript, and essay are due by email or postal mail by 3/17/2020. The email and postal address are listed on the application. *The Bernice Griffin Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Denton County high school graduate that feels he/she has overcome an obstacle, be it physical, emotional, or spiritual. The applicant must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This application packet is due via email to the email address on the packet by 3/18/2020. *The Marilyn Hunt Williams Community Service Award will be awarded to a Denton County high school graduate that is very active in the community by volunteering. The applicant must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The application packet is due via email to the email address on the packet by 3/18/2020. *Denton County A&M Club scholarship applications for graduating seniors in the Class of 2020 who have been accepted to A&M for the Fall of 2020. This application is entirely online; more information is located on the BNHS Counseling webpage. Deadline for applications is Saturday, 3/21/2020. *Lakeview Elementary PTA is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior from the Class of 2020. You must have attended Lakeview Elementary and be a member of the PTA at Byron Nelson High School. Applications are in the BNHS Counseling Office and all documents required are due no later than 4pm on Monday, 3/23/2020. *Northern Texas Facial & Oral Surgery Scholarship - Applicant must be pursuing a degree or technical certification in the sciences or a healthcare field. Fields of study may include biology, microbiology, chemistry, bacteriology, biochemistry, genetics, neuroscience, dentistry, hygiene, nursing, medicine, dental assisting, etc. Completed applications must be hand delivered to one of the NTFOS offices in Grapevine, Irving, Flower Mound or Keller before 12 noon on 3/27/2020. UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES VISIT BNHS WEDNESDAY, 2/26 University representatives are coming to BNHS on Wednesday, 2/26, to talk with BNHS students who are interested in gathering info. regarding educational opportunities, admissions, & campus life at these universities: Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State University. Please stop by their tables in the Student Union during your lunch period. Please take advantage of this opportunity to talk with a college rep.! BRANCHES OF U.S. MILITARY IN BNHS STUDENT UNION DURING LUNCH PERIODS Monday – Army National Guard Tuesday – United State Navy Wednesday – United States Marines Thursday – United States Army Thursday, February 20th – Coast Guard Students may choose to stop by a military representative’s table in the Student Union during lunch periods to learn about post-high school military opportunities. If your parents encourage you to request a visit with a recruiter from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, or National Guard, you may stop by & see Mrs. Huizenga in AC119 to arrange an appointment. SENIORS BRING MILITARY ENLISTMENT PAPERS TO MRS. HUIZENGA IN AC119 Seniors, if you are enlisting in the U.S. military, remember to bring Mrs. Huizenga your enlistment papers. She will make a copy of your papers for our documentation file. We want to honor your commitment to serve our Nation at the Royal Awards Ceremony in May 2020.
