But her strength and perseverance ultimately paid off as she took the ice for the first game late in the preseason and is ready to go for the start of the year. It won’t be a difficult comeback for her as she has her supportive Lions family encouraging her, as well as her family back in New Zealand, whose support has been crucial to her successful transition. “Our whole team is committed and passionate for hockey but we also support each other off the ice, and that has been really great. And my family at home watches all the games online, even when there is no streams my brother will track the scores and stats. It feels good to know they are there for me.” Happy, healthy and settled in comfortably in her new surroundings, Bastos Gottgtroy is ready for the new season and poised to make a splash in the OUA.
