    Olympians The University of Colorado has produced 60+ Olympians (through the 2008 Summer Games). The majority of the Olympians to come from the Boulder campus are former members of the Buffs’ esteemed ski teams, with alumni also competing in figure skating (2), bobsledding (1), equestrian (1), luge (3), basketball (3), cycling (1) while the following list of athletes have competed in track and field during the 20th Century. Ambassador David Bolen, Colorado’s first Olympian, finished fourth in the 400-m dash during the 1948 Summer Games in London, England. WILLIAMS, RICHARDS RECEIVE AAC LEADERSHIP AWARDS Lauryn Williams and Sanya Richards received the AAC Distinguished Leadership award Friday morning in Jacksonville. Williams and Richards were inaugural win- ners of the award given to “an individual or athletes who demonstrated excellence in ath- letics, academics and community service. Lauryn Williams established her place as “world’s fastest woman” when at the gun she burst out of the blocks and grabbed an early lead that she never relinquished in winning the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. Her time of 10.98 gave her the gold and put Team USA on track to win a record 14 gold medals, 25 overall. She is a World Outdoor 4X100m relay gold medalist (41.78). Lauryn finished 3rd at the USA Outdoor (11.29); 1st at Nike Prefontaine Classic (11.16); 2nd in 200m at adidas Track Classic (22.27).and was 2nd at Lausanne (10.91). Off the track, Lauryn completed her degree in December 2004 and gave the commencement speach at graduation, she has participated in Be a Champion events in Portland, Los Angeles, Williams (above) and Richards (left) Miami and Indianapolis.
