BLACK VOID 4 FX: OTHER SIDE OF THE HUGE DOORS, NARRATOR & 2 TIME LORDS striding through. The Time Lords stay by the doors, on guard; lose them, and the doors, as the Narrator walks on. FX: WIDE SHOT of the Black Void - like Superman's Krypton, the courtroom/Phantom Zone scenes - deep black, starkly lit from above. Ive given up on Characters options and underground toys and whoever backs them completing the set now…. Saying that, it is fairly cheap. Ive got to say they can keep augmenting the cybermen as much as they like but they still dont look as good as the classic variations…. The old ones were best but the last design was ok. Cannot understand why change. The cybermen were just blend in my opinion. These new designs actually remind me of the classic series cybermen. -

Davies’s Doctor Who Jonathan Hay Abstract Via the analysis of a cross-section of episodes from Russell T. Davies’s era of the revived BBC Science Fiction television series Doctor Who (2005 – 2010), this paper demonstrates that the programme utilises representations of the viewer’s everyday lifeworld to figure a posthuman rhetoric. Through the viewer’s in-phenomenal interaction with its representation of the mundane, the show emphasises the already significantly posthuman nature of the technologically saturated lifeworld of the contemporary individual. It challenges Darko Suvin’s notion of cognitive estrangement, which fails to describe the show’s Science Fictional1 discourse, and instead proposes the alternate mechanism of cognitive engagement. This inquiry therefore reappraises the thematic concerns of the show during the years when Russell T. Davies served as the programme’s showrunner, revealing Doctor Who’s emphasis upon the everyday (post)human lifeworld. It concludes that the show refutes technocentric ideologies, and thus rigorously demonstrates the consonance between the (post)human present and posthuman future. -

Cook Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leicester, Leicester, LE1 7RH November 8, 2017 Abstract To disguise themselves on Earth, Raxacoricofallapatorians hid in suits of human skin using a compression field worn around their necks. Over time, developments in their technology allowed them to fit into average sized humans, as opposed to obese humans used previously. We calculated the pressure exerted on the inside of the skin as 138,000 Pa for an average human and 103,000 Pa for an obese human, both significantly beneath the ultimate tensile strength of human skin. We calculated the force from the compression fields to be 501,000 N and 374,000 N for average and obese humans respectively.
