  • Mastodon's New Album Once More 'Round the Sun Debuts
For Immediate Release: MASTODON’S NEW ALBUM ONCE MORE ’ROUND THE SUN DEBUTS AT NO. 6 ON BILLBOARD CHART - THEIR HIGHEST U.S. CHART DEBUT EVER! THE NEW ALBUM IS ALSO TOP 20 AROUND THE WORLD ABC’S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE CONFIRMED FOR SEPTEMBER 15TH July 2, 2014 — (Burbank, CA) — Once More ’Round The Sun, the sixth studio album from Mastodon, has debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. This marks their highest chart debut ever. In addition, this album released by Reprise Records on June 24th, has gone Top 10 in most European markets and top 20 in most remaining territories. Once More ’Round The Sun has also entered the Top 10 Album Charts in the U.K. as well where it is currently the No. 1 Rock/Metal album across the nation; yet another milestone for Mastodon. Fans and critics agree, this is the best Mastodon album yet: “The mercurial metal heads have improved on the lean hard-rock pummel of 2011’s The Hunter with lattices of ornate riffs and primal vocals… the band sounds best when taking risks.” – Rolling Stone “Album after album, Mastodon set the pace for modern heavy metal. Their brand of aggression is brainy, technically dazzling and slightly hallucinogenic – metal for people who don’t usually listen to metal. At the same time, the band is balls-out creative. ‘Elegant’ isn’t a term usually associated with neck-tatted, acid-eating heshers but check out Bill Kelliher’s guitar riff verses Brent Hinds’ guitar solo versus Brann Dailor’s double-time drums.

DEPECHE MODE TO BRING THEIR ‘GLOBAL SPIRIT TOUR’ TO LATIN AMERICA IN MARCH 2018 – Following European and North American Tour, Depeche Mode to Play Stadiums in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil – BEVERLY HILLS, CA (Mar. 22, 2017) – For the first time in nine years, Depeche Mode will tour Latin America, bringing their stunning live show to fans who have not seen the band since 2009’s Tour of the Universe. “We’re incredibly excited to return to Latin America”, says lead singer Dave Gahan. “We weren’t able to see our fans there on the last tour, so we knew we had to visit this time.” Following this summer’s massive European summer stadium tour and the upcoming fall tour of North America, the band will continue to extend the Global Spirit Tour with two weeks of stadium shows across Latin America in March 2018. The tour will begin on March 11th in Mexico City, continue through Bogota, Lima, Santiago and Buenos Aires, before wrapping up in Sao Paulo on March 27th. The Latin American tour is being promoted by Live Nation, continuing their global partnership with Depeche Mode. Details on all ticket on-sale dates will follow. The Global Spirit Tour supports the band’s 14th studio album, Spirit, released March 17th via Columbia Records. The album’s powerful and timely first single, “Where’s The Revolution”, has been well-received by critics and fans alike, lauded as a strong “return to form” for Depeche Mode. • Class of 2018 Graduates Say Farewell (See Pg 22)
Cornhusker Impressions for alumni and friends of the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry Class of 2018 graduates say farewell (see pg 22) Meet Xiaoxi ‘Sophie’ Cui, the first China Scholar to graduate from the College of Dentistry (see pg 24) Spring 2018 From the Dean Dear Friends and Colleagues, You may notice that this issue of Impressions is a bit larger than previous issues. Moving forward, we have decided to publish two print issues annually (instead of three). At the same time, we have started a monthly electronic newsletter, “News Bites”. If you have not received our electronic newsletter and would like to, please make sure to send your preferred email address to [email protected]. Our electronic newsletter will keep you up- to-date on a more frequent basis and includes videos and other regular columns not featured in Impressions. We have much to celebrate in this issue, including faculty members achieving major service anniversaries, new faculty leaders, and the story of how several of our faculty have made an academic career – a new career (story on page 16)! Dr. Day had the idea of being an academician for many years, eventually seeking out teaching courses to prepare her for the transition; for Dr. Zalewski, it meant pursuing an idea of being a teacher in his profession. Dr. Robin Hattervig took the leap after hosting fourth-year dental students in his practice, while Dr. Bokemper decided to “test the waters” before diving into a new career. Regardless of their journeys, we are delighted to have them on board and making significant contributions to our academic endeavors! Additionally, our teaching continues to evolve.

(310)312-4305 E-mail: [email protected] October 21, 2014 Client-Matter: 45860-031 BY MESSENGER AND E-MAIL President Patsaouras and Honorable Commissioners Board of Recreation and Parks Commissioners City of Los Angeles 221 N. Figueroa Street, Room 1510 Los Angeles, CA 90012 Re: The Greek Theatre Concession Award - Response to Mayer Brown Letters of October 8, 2014 and October 20, 2014 Dear President Patsaouras and Honorable Commissioners: On behalf of Live Nation Worldwide, Inc. ("Live Nation"), we write in response to the October 8, 2014 and October 20, 2014 letters from Nederlander-AEG's legal counsel. Unfortunately, these letters are nothing more than additional attempts to confuse and delay the process after your staff and a five person independent panel of experts (the "Evaluation Panel") unanimously found that Live Nation by far delivered the superior proposal to operate the Greek Theatre for the next 20 years. Live Nation scored a total of 455 points out of a possible 500, whereas Nederlander-AEG only scored 396. Live Nation delivered a vastly superior proposal - it is that simple. This letter will demonstrate, and even the most cursory review of the two proposals will confirm, that Nederlander-AEG's proposal - like Nederlander's current operation of the Greek Theatre - leaves much to be desired. Whether it's the Nederlander-AEG proposal's inappropriate use of Patina Group venue photographs (Patina Group is not Nederlander's, but Live Nation's food and beverage partner), a capital improvement contribution that isn't even half of Live Nation's, or a misleading pro forma projecting revenue from up to 80 shows when the proposal guarantees 50 shows elsewhere, the 40-year incumbent's proposal was so flawed that it could only have come from a company with a self-entitled belief that it, and not the people of Los Angeles, own the Greek Theatre.
